Pumpkinator is the only local Texas beer I'd go nuts over finding immediately... because I farking LOVE it and other BAs are out to crush my dreams and buy every bottle in 30 minutes.

If this stuff is as limited as it is said to be, anyone will be either: lucky to get it or wasted their time for a thin beer with little to no flavor.

Nah, I mean for limited releases in general. Plus everyone has a beer guy right?

It amazes me on a site with advocacy as the intent, people continue to discredit beers/breweries that haven't come out yet. I understand some of you are upset about limited releases and what it takes to get them, and a lot of that is out of our control due to current TABC laws.

I know SA is relatively larger than other Texas craft breweries that also barrel age, but we're just getting started with our barrel program. There was a time when we would only have a single bourbon barrel and you could only get it on cask at one location. We don't have the capacity, yet, to do large barrel releases with the likes of Goose Island, Founders, etc. They started small too. I'm excited because I started working at SA before the barrel program and it's awesome to see it come to fruition. Ideally this type of release would be well suited for a brewery release only, but we can't do that. We feel the best possible way for everyone to try our first Bishop Barrel is by supporting the bars and restaurants that have supported us for so long. We just don't have the capacity to distribute it to liquor and grocery stores as well.

As a brewer, it's a really exciting time to be working at SA, because of all the new and creative things we're doing and have planned. You've all been very diligent finding out about the Icon and Bishop barrel releases. I figured you all would be as excited as us.

This message wasn't meant to insult if any of you were, just to inform. And after that, enjoy the weekend with some great local craft beer. Thanks.

So, did anyone ever get clarification as to what the base beer for this is? Is it Tatonka?

So, you are acknowledging that it will be only released in kegs?

It is great to see a brewer with your passion. I'm excited about the expansion of your bourbon barrel capacity and cannot wait to try the new beers you guys are coming up with. I enjoy Saint Arnold's beer and look forward to tasting the Bishop Barrel Beers when they are released.

I don't see anywhere in his post where he mentioned kegs. I'm assuming they are bottling it and then sending it to bars and restaurants.

My guess would be it will come out after regular business hours. ie like they do when they tap a limited keg but this will be in bottle form.

Yeah the chase just isn't that fun... might be if I didn't have a job and was really rich with loads of spare time..

That said... I'm glad they are implementing a barrel program and hope it keeps growing...

This and I wish the idiotic laws would change so they can sell at the brewery. Do like others do. Have online presales and then, you just go by the brewery and pick up the goods.
