Stopped by the taproom of Saturday following some great jazz at the Greeley/UNC Jazz Festival and was impressed per usual.

Transmountain Diversion was absolutely incredible... took home some TDH JB's that I'm quite pleased with as well. My babe loves their Berliner-Weisse's so its always a win-win when we can make it out that way.

Also- it didn't wreak of 'agricultural aromas' in Greeley at all that day, which was a nice change of pace.

    Toppling Goliath - Assassin

Shaping up to be a shitty fest :stuck_out_tongue:

Are there any shops in Denver or the surrounding area that have WW hops? Any recommendations would be appreciated, ultimately I'm headed to Grand Junction so if I could avoid a Greely detour that would be a plus.
    Cheers!

If ya can’t find any along the way, you should be able to find some Outer Range in Summit County.

Juicy bits is around in Denver. Spiny Shell dropped on Thursday in limited locations. Check Grapevine, Mr. B's, Mile High, Small Batch

I'm heading to WW this weekend to grab my trade guy some IPAs. With what they have available I was thinking Juicy Bits, the mango milkshake and Triple Red Shell. If something major gets released then I'll consider that.
My question is: do they do one style of IPA significantly better than another and would I be better served focusing on that type as oppposed to trying multiple styles.
ie the triple dry hop from a couple weeks ago that some stated needed a while to relax.

All the to go IPA's are drinking well right now, IMO. I prefer Spiny Shell over Triple Red Shell, and dont sleep on Fake Item Box.

They announced Item Box, double IPA, on their FB a little ago as well, looks very similar to Fake Item Box on the can design so watch out. Releasing at the brewery on Friday

I personally had been under a rock apparently and only really started my WW appreciation middle of March. Every NE style Double IPA has been off the charts good. Transmountain Diversion, Double Mango Milkshake, Spiny Shell, Double Peach Milkshake. And single NE IPAs, reg Juicy Bits and Green Shell have been great. Haven't tried Fake Item Box. But can't go wrong with any IPAs out of them

I just went there for the first time Tuesday. I second the fake item box. Very good. And they were generous with the tasters which was a plus.

The banana heffe looks... interesting. It sounds kinda gross but I should have faith in their ability to make it good? I think that's a "taste it first" kind of beer.

Except doesn't weizen yeast already put out banana esters? I think it's probably delicious.

It can, and it does depend on fermentation temperature. Some people HATE estery beers, and either the banana will hide it or accentuate it. I'm not sure which.

I know you guys never get tired of visitors D: but i'll be in downtown Denver from May 14th through May 25th.

Is it worth the 120+ mile round trip?
What are the odds i'll catch a good take home release?
I could go on a weekday after work (5PM) if necessary, but I will have the full weekend of May19th and 20th to fill.

Any tips/tricks to the brewery/surrounding area (ie food or other breweries in the area)?

I'm not the biggest WW guy, but it seems they announce their weekend releases on Wednesday or Thursday. Anything majorly popular will be gone before the weekend is out, so a weekday visit will net you good stuff, just not necessarily the BIG ticket items.

The other notable brewery is Wiley Roots. I personally haven't had anything I considered all that great from them, but others have said good things. There are a few other smaller breweries in the area, but I'm not familiar.

Worth the trip imo, if I could take someone to only one brewery in CO, it would be Weldwerks right now. Wiley Roots is definitely worth hitting in Greeley too.

    1) Yes
    2) 99% (To add to this, often last weeks release lasts until the next week, so you will probably be able to double-dip on cans).
    3) New Beers are dropped on Fridays typically. So you should def go on Friday evening if that is reasonable.
4a) The Saturday noon food truck (Tramp About, I think) is really good.
4b) You should definitely go to Wiley Roots which is just around the corner. It's a little hard to find, and it's not fancy, but they won a GABF gold medal for barrel-aged sour last year. Tons of To-Go options as well. The beer is sneaky good and they have tons of options on tap.

They have been good about keeping Facebook updated on the weekends with events, releases, and food trucks. I think they are also on Instagram if that is your thing.
