Going from Ohio to Dover,DE for a night, then to Philly for 2 nights. Will be staying by Independence Hall. Then headed to Newport, RI for 3 nights before off to Maine for 4 nights, and VT for 4 nights. Need suggestions for trip before Maine part (have done ME and VT 5+times already). Looking for awesome bottle shops (Russian River, New England Brewing) and good pubs. Thanks..
Google State Line Liquor, on MD/DE border on your way to Dover. No RR but awesome bottles and growler fills. Join their mailing list for a discount.
Follow the links from my response here for Philly: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/philly-availability.161839/#post-2258303 I hope you have Tired Hands on your list of Philly already.
While you are in Philly, make sure to go to the Khyber during the day (at night it sometimes turns into a douchefest, but they have great beer) and Eulogy at night. Both are in the neighborhood you're staying in. If you want to check out a brewpub, Triumph Brewing Co. is right across from Eulogy, although I can't say I've ever had an amazing beer of theirs. Make sure to walk down to the Foodery at 10th and Pine for bottles; the prices may scare you away, but they have a great selection. Also, non-beer related - go to Franklin Fountain for ice cream. If the weather is nice there will probably be a line, but the ice cream is excellent and the old-timey vibe is fun. And check out Campo's for a cheesesteak if you're going to indulge in one - it's worlds better than the tourist-y cheesesteak places; get the Heater if you like things spicy.
Hmm. Well, if nothing else this saves him from the mediocre beer at Triumph. Any word on if the new place opened up there?
Monk's Cafe is by far the best beer bar in the city. You can usually find some RR on tap (blind pig mostly) http://www.phillytapfinder.com/bar/monks-cafe/ Last Wednesday they tapped some Pliny.
State Line is a must stop. Right off 95. I stop every time I'm near there. And yeah - the mailing list will take off 10%. I would just add that it might be easier to stop there on your way from DE to Philly instead of OH to DE. Also, to add to what @mythaeus said, GO TO TIRED HANDS. It's probably about 20 minutes outside the city, but it is well worth it. Especially if you happen to be there on the weekend when they open at noon instead of 4. Their beer is outstanding and their food isn't far behind either. Great lunch spot. Also, you really gotta go to Monk's while you're in Philly. Just go early so it's not jammed. That's really the only bar that is a MUST STOP imo. Eulogy will be very close to you. I would just hit up Phillytapfinder.com the days leading up to your visit and see what you're interested in.
