I'm in Ohio for the day in the Cleveland area, any bottle shops worth checking out in the surrounding areas or somewhere around route 80? Trying to bring home some nice bottles to share with friends back home
Simone's, Rozi's, Ross Beverage in the Lakewood area. Around I80 and Pearl(exit 161) Circle A beverage in North Royalton and Royal Park Fine Wine in Strongsville are about 10 minutes away. The Brew Kettle is also right down the road from there.
These places for sure. Also the Winespot in Cleveland Heights, La Cave du Vin on Coventry in Cleveland Heights, and Lizardville Bedford Heights.
Hello!!! Hoping for some help from ya'll Ohio folks!... I'm going to be in Ohio (Dayton-Cincinnati area) over the holidays. From there, I'll be commuting by car up to the Detroit area (so essentially passing through the entire west side of the state of Ohio. I want to buy Zombie Dust by Three Floyds, but don't want to go so far out of my way to travel into Indiana. Are there any bottle shops ya'll know of that would have Zombie Dust??? Please Advise!!! Many Thanks!!!
It is unlikely unless you're really lucky. Ohio doesn't get a ton of zombie dust and it almost always sells out really fast. Honestly your best bet would be to drive an extra few hours to the brewery or maybe try to set up an IP trade. If you can't find any, I'd recommend stocking up on White Rajah as it's just as good imo.
Great advice! I havent tried White Rajah (actually I havent tried anything Three Floyds) but i think i'll go that route. When i was thinking of the state of Indiana, I got Muncie and Munster confused. Didnt realize MunSTER was practically into Chicago and thats too out of the way. Thanks friend! Cheers!
White Rajah...is that from a brewery out of Strongsville, OH (oddly enough my childhood hometown!). As you can see, Im pretty out of touch w what goes on in your neck of the woods. Still...ill try to source it out while im in Cincy. Thanks again @Beef_Curtains!
Yep, it's from the Brew Kettle in Strongsville. It's arguably the best readily available Ohio hoppy beer along with Fathead's Headhunter.
I've literally never seen Zombie Dust on a shelf anywhere but in the Chicagoland area, and rarely there. If you were swinging through the western suburbs of Chicago, I could direct you to a place that had over three cases of it just sitting out as of Thanksgiving afternoon, but no help at all in Cincy. If you're looking for a place with good selection and service around Cincy, I'd say Cappy's Wine & Spirits in Loveland would be a good bet - they currently have Dark Horse Plead the 5th, Weyerbacher Sunday Morning Stout, and Maumee Bay Barrel Aged Total Eclipse on 3 of their 20+ taps (who doesn't shop with a pint in their hand?), the bottle selection is awesome, and the staff and owner actually offer helpful advice when told what your taste in beer is. There's also the Jungle Jim's locations in Fairield and Eastgate, where you'll find pretty much any beer sold in Ohio (they order as much of everything as they possibly can), but they're grocery stores - big ones that sell every food on the planet, with weird animatronics everywhere, but grocery stores nonetheless. You may want to watch for bottle dates there, and not expect much help from the staff.
Thanks for the advice friend! I'll definitely check out Cappy's as I've heard good things. Also, I have been to Jungle Jim's before and know that its more of a grocery store then anything else. Sadly, the only time I was there was a LONG time ago before I knew shit about beer, much less craft beer. Wasn't aware that Zombie Dust was such a limited item even in ya'll neck of the woods, but either way thank you for the advice and good-will in sharing some great bottle shops, etc. Merry Christmas & CHEERS!
Along with White Rajah (which I highly recommend) I would grab some Mystic Mama from Jackie O's Brewery also. It's another Ohio IPA that I really like.
Have you already been through Cincinnati? I have a bottle of ZD dated 12/3 I could toss ya if you are still in the area.
Awe crap man, im already out of town and now in Michigan. Left on Sunday. Thank you so much for thinking of me though! That kind of patronage is hard to find these days. Have a Merry Christmas and CHEERS!
