    Hello there BA's,

(Just realized perhaps this should be in the US - Great Lakes forum, if a Staff member could move this? Thanks.)

Thinking this is a long shot, but thought I might as well see if anyone has had any luck? I'm currently in Toledo, Ohio which is pretty close to the Canadian boarder. Does Ohio ever get any Cantillon?

I'm not talking about any rare gems here, just really anything from them? I understand that Canada gets plenty of Cantillon, correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm only 2ish hours from there.

Not looking to horde any by any means, but would like to see if I can pick up a bottle or two here locally to try. Thanks for any tips/help.

    Happy Holidays,

    Dakota

~May the best brew be yours

I cannot speak for Ohio but Ontario, Canada does not get Cantillon. I would also speculate that there is none available in Ohio.

There hasn't been any Cantillon in a very long time in Ohio. You'll have to settle for some 3 Fonteinen.

I disagree with the very long time part:

About a week ago at Beverage Source in Newark.

Is it few and far between? Most definitely. But it DOES show up. You just gotta know where and when, or hope you can stumble upon them when they are being stocked.

I got to Beverage Source about 20 minutes after those were on the shelf. There were only 8 there (out of 12), and I bought 4, two for myself and 2 for a good friend. Left the other 4 for whoever decided to grab them.

This isn't true - Cantillon hit Columbus a few weeks ago, and it was here again 6 months or so ago.

Sounds like I really just have to keep an eye out for them in the bigger cities. As far as I know the Toledo area does not get any what so ever. Thanks for the slight ray of hope there everyone. Seems possible, just gotta keep my head up and eyes peeled.

    Cheers!

a lot of stores get a whopping one 6 bottle case 1-2x a year & a lot of them seem to kinda keep it behind the counter for their regulars/ big spenders..

I just want another bottle of Iris.

That said, I'd much, much rather see more bottles of Duchessic. Goodness, I'd be REALLY broke if I found those in 750's.

Duchessic is amazing. I should've bought it again when I saw it on shelves in Chicago....

I used to pick up a lot of Cantillon in Ohio. I lived in PA and would drive over and get some when it hit shelves. The best day was when the shop I frequented got in Mamouche, Gueuze, Rose de Gambrinus, Fou Foune, and Iris in all at the same time. I called and they held one of each for me. And I bought another 3 bottles of Fou Foune off the shelf. A very good but VERY expensive day.

Alas that was 3 years ago now.... Haven't seen any on shelves really since then other than maybe a stray bottle of Gueuze or Rose...

I just picked up a Classic Gueuze yesterday. There's been at least 2 waves of Cantillon in Ohio this year that I know of. Around late winter and late fall. There might have been one around June, but it could have just been a store holding onto bottles. Seems about right though. Normally only get 2-3 shipments a year. I've never actually seen them on a shelf, so I always have to know a guy. It's annoying, but that's the way it is now (for the most part). Happy hunting.

Funny enough, when I said "No Cantillon in Ohio", I was using my history of living in Toledo.

You'd think that Toledo being far larger than Newark that Cantillon would show up there before Newark...

It seems like an impossible dream for me. My local bottle shops will never get it and the serious bottle shops that are somewhat close will sell out of them before I can get there. I can't think of any practical solution to get Cantillon. My only real option is to get utterly gouged buying it on the internets.

Sarcasm doesn't work well on the internet.*

*I prefer 3F gueuze and kriek to Cantillon gueuze and kriek.

Except for gueuze (and maybe framboise) Cantillon wins over Drie Fonteinen for me. But gueuze is my favorite form of lambic so...

Bought Mamouche, Classic Gueuze, and Rose de Gambrinus on Black Friday. I saw it posted on the shop's Facebook page a few hours before they released it. I never thought I would be lucky enough to have some just sitting in my cellar. It won't stay there for long.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't you been to Cantillon? I mean, that's a bit different than just merely getting their beer here... :stuck_out_tongue:

I feel like Cantillon is a bit more funky than 3F, where 3F is more sour. Either way, they both make delicious beer.

Incorrect. There has been Rose and Classic hitting places in CLE and CBUS over the last month or two. To answer the OPs question, yes, Cantillon does come to Ohio and probably more frequent than most people think. Unfortunately, I never see it in the Toledo market and I am there at least one a month.
