I really enjoyed Founders Pale Joe when it was made a bunch of years ago. I’m open to light coffee beers as long as the coffee is not the dominant taste.

    Enjoy

According to my beer journals, the 1st coffee beer I tasted that wasn't a stout was in 2016. It was from Hugo, MN called COSMOS BUZZED ALDRICH Golden Cappuccino Ale 7%ABV. From the tap at Grizzly's Bar, it looked like a clean IPA, tasted like coffee stout. Curious and quite drinkable.
Also from 2016: Insight Brewing makes Banshee Cutter Coffee Golden Ale 5.5%ABV which is a little bit sweet.
From August 2020: Oliphant Brewing from Somerset, WI: SOMOS EXTEMOS Coffee Golden Ale 6.5%ABV. Nutty and caramel flavors. Hope this helps! I will keep looking.

Well, I *was* basically kidding, but being new to the forum I suppose you don't understand emoticons.

That said, has Harrison hired a mouthpiece? Need to get me an internet forum lawyer -- @FBarber @grantcty , either of you available? (see, emoticon).

But to my real, original point; coffee beer has been around a long time.

And ironically enough, Harrison actually *liked* my reply to his post, so I guess he wasn't really looking for unsolicited defense.

What a coincidence. I have been badly missing and craving Ballast Point's Calm Before the Storm and Sixpoint's C.R.E.A.M. I mentioned it on Facebook and somebody gave me this for my birthday. Pale coffee beer is a great idea. It lets the coffee shine more on its merits within a package of sheer drinkability.

Madtree has made a coffee porter called Local Blend the past three years partnering with local coffee roasters in Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus and Cleveland. The beer comes in a 4pk so you can compare/contrast each collaboration.

This sounds like an absolute delight. Is it pretty abundantly available after release?

I think it was a pretty short run - I only saw it a few times in Dayton - maybe the Cincy members can repsond - they get the vast majority of the smaller release drops. I'm just happy to see Dayton got a spot in the 4pk - could have easily gone to Toledo or Akron - both are bigger than Dayton but I think Dayton is pretty loyal to Cincy labels like Madtree, Rhinegeist, Tafts.

Sibling Revelry had an excellent coffee red beer a couple years ago. Last time I asked if they were going to make it again, the answer was no. Too many other things to try and brew. :frowning2:
