Hey guys and gals, my mother is going to Columbus next weekend for 4 days (fri, sat sun mon). Any decent bottle shops that she should look for while she is there? Fat heads, hoof hearted, and the like. Thanks.

Depends on the side of town. Anderson's Dublin is good on the NW side of the city. Crafted Drafts is good on the NE side of the city. Weiland's and Palmer's Beverage are basically across the street from each other and are more central. Not sure about the south side of the city.

Hoof Hearted cans won't be found in shops, but if you send a growler along, their downtown brewpub is open Weds-Sun.

Must haves include Columbus Brewing's Bodhi (their IPA and Pale are also solid), Fat Head's Head Hunter, and Brew Kettle's White Rajah.

    Paging @Keffa

My wife was there last week and he gave me a ton of good advice. Some of my favorite recs that I got: Jackie O - Dark Apparition, Wolf Ridge- Clear Sky Daybreak, Thirsty Dog Wulver Barrel aged wee heavy. Among others!

Find out, and I'll give you a list and directions to them. What styles do you like?

If you go to the HH brewpub, you'd do well to walk further down and go to Seventh Son as well.

Sounds good. We are in town for a game, and staying at the La Meridien. We are going to have free time on Friday around lunch/afternoon. How would they be at those times? Pretty crowded?

You'll be fine. HH brewpub is rarely busy and Seventh Son won't be bad until happy hour.

Lizardville Polaris is nearby and should be available for a few easy pickups.

Seconding that. While she's there have her try some Macallan 25 year and tell you how it is.

Yes, plenty of Jackie O's in stock. Still a bunch of Oro Negro left, somehow. And if you're into 3Floyds, they had multiple cases of Gumballhead yesterday.

Polaris is pretty far north on I-71, not a ton of beer places up there. Best place near there for beer is Aficionados (8909 S Old State Rd). Should easily be able to get Jackie O's, among other things, there. To get there from the hotel, your wife will want to get back out to SR750 (Polaris Parkway) and make a left. Take a right on S Old State, and it's on the right in the little strip mall.

If she does go to Hoof Hearted, you could have her take I-71 South on the way there, take the Cooke Rd. exit, and then make a left onto Indianola Ave. and visit Weiland's Market. One of the better selections in the city.

As far as Bodhi goes, your best bet is to have her follow the directions as stated above for Aficionados, but instead of turning off of it, follow 750 into Powell to The Daily Growler Powell (258 West Olentangy Street) which is in a little strip mall on the right. They almost ALWAYS have Bodhi on tap (As I write this at 12:01AM 9/12, they have it on tap). Bottles of Bodhi may be tougher to find, but the option is there to get a growler, at least

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers!

I always forget about Lizardville. Maybe because the one time I went to one, it was pricey and not that great of a selection.

My wife and I drove through Columbus in June on our way back from Jackie O's We stopped at 'The Andersons' General Store Located on Bent Tree Blvd. We were amazed, first off, at how large the store is. Their craft beer selection was great. We picked up quite a few Imports as well as other Ohio beers we have not found in Cleveland area. I would definitely recommend this place. It is not too far from Polaris Parkway.

About 5 minutes further drive than Aficionados or Weiland's. You are correct though, The Andersons Sawmill has a very, very large selection of stuff.

To get there from the hotel, take 71S to 270 West, follow it to the Sawmill Rd. exit and stay in the left to go onto Sawmill S. Turn left onto Sawmill Place Blvd, and then left onto Bent Tree Blvd (The Andersons is on the left and can be seen before you get to Bent Tree).

    Cheers!
