My family is travelling to the Lorain / Elyria area in the coming weeks and said they would bring some bottles back for me, are there any good shops in the area and any brews in particular have them on the lookout for?

I can't speak for the bottleshops in that area, but if you like IPAs, have them on the lookout for The Brew Kettle White Rajah. What styles do you like? There's some nice local stuff and alot of good breweries that are distributed here. Not sure what you get or where you're from. I'm guessing VT from your avatar. Lawson's is spectacular by the way..

I'm actually from NH, but trips to alchemist, lawson's and HF are common. IPA, DIPA and stouts would top the list but i'm really not terribly picky as long as it's good.

    Is white rajah typically available?

It is, but sometimes it just flies off the shelf. Their other stuff is easier to obtain. If they come across it, go for it.

Tons of Great Lakes. We get Bell's, Founders, Dark Horse. Some good CA breweries like The Bruery, AleSmith, Green Flash, Ballast Point, Lagunitas, Stone. DFH is everywhere. Great Divide too. We get some 3Floyds, but it usually doesn't last too long. Many other breweries. I guess it comes down to what you don't get distributed to NH..

IF your parents don't mind taking a little trip toward Youngstown..Boardman to be exact,Vintage Estates is a great place for bottle selection. They have a great selection of flatbreads also,so they can lunch while they are there.

This is much farther than a "little trip". Its ~2 hours and the majority of what can be found at Vintage, if not all, can be found on the west side of Cleveland.

OP, your parents won't find much of anything in the Lorain/Elyria area. They are going to have to do a little bit of traveling, but not 2 hours worth. There are a handful of excellent stores in Lakewood, OH, which is about 30 minutes east of Lorain/Elyria. Any of the following will have an excellent selection:

    Rozi's
    Mini Mart
    Simones

Again, all are in Lakewood and actually all are on the same road and with a 5 minute or so drive. Good look and if you are looking for anything specific let us know and we can direct you. Also, Rozi's has excellent customer service and if you know what you want and they have it in stock, call ahead and they will set it aside for you parents so all they have to do is ask for the beer for wildcats10 (but I assume you would use your real name)!

Truth! Simone's and Mini Mart are NOT craft beer stores IMO. Rozi's can actually recommend something and talk beer, well, unless Corey is working that day. He'll just make fun of you.

If you look or act anything like jampics2, just expect to be ridiculed and harassed - otherwise, it should be a fantastic Rozi's experience. I always tell customers that if they want to look good just stand next to jampics2 - he makes everyone look good (in comparison). Much love, jampics2 (see you tomorrow). Corey

Actually you can get there in about an hour and 20,unless you drive 25 miles an hour.
I was just trying to help a guy out, considering I have seen other threads on here mention VE for people in the Cleveland area,so I though I would just throw it out there. So I think you need to relax son...it was just a suggestion to the OP.

Rozi's is literally 5 minutes off I-90, so they could hit it on the way in or out. They usually have all the local stuff if its available. Any other craft shops in the C-town area are going to be at least 45 minutes out of the way.

Ya, it was a suggestion. I gave the OP the suggestion that there is no need to drive to VE. I was not hostile to you in any way nor did I disparage your post. I simply gave the OP options that were most likely much more convenient to his/her parents that are already doing him/her a favor.

You seem to be the one that needs to relax.

Your post was sarcastic...read it again, maybe you will get it,but then again I doubt it.

How is it at all sarcastic? You said go to VE and I said its 2 hours away and the selection will be similar if not the same as places much closer to where the OP's parents with be located. Yep, that is overflowing with sarcasm. Get over yourself.

Gonna have to disagree about Simone's. I've picked up all the recent hard to get releases there like Better Half, KBS, etc. I find that Simone's is able to keep those sort of things for a couple days longer than Rozi's. Also can't think of anything Rozi's has that Simone's doesn't.
That being said, Simone's does appear to be another liquor, and essentially is. But they have an amazing selection.

I think jampics is speaking more to who the stores cater too. Rozi's definitely caters to the craft beer/fine wine crowd much more than Simone's, but I completely agree with you. Rozi's sells out of special release stuff very fast while you can usually find the same special releases lingering a bit longer at Mini-Mart and Simones.

Oh yeah, I figured that was the point. And I agree. Rozi's definitely caters toward the craft crowd more.
Marc at Simone's knows a good amount about craft beer though. I've also convinced him to start a sour section there, so he does listen to customers. Love both stores.

In order to recieve quality customer service from Corey at Rozi's I suggest walking into the store with this in hand...
