cascazilla used to be amazing. brute and lebleu are even better.

sebago single barrel barleywine is amazing but some of their other stuff is bleh. that said, the last beer i had from them was a really nice black IPA. worth keeping an eye on sebago these days.

Damn, where is this place, I'm in Ulster County. 16.00 pitchers of Brute? Dang. Sounds like the kind of place we need around here.

And yes, it is quite sad to think that Brute is no more. But for me the blow is softened by getting to drink Simple Sour, Zeitgeist Berliner Weisse, Midnight Toker, Higher Standard, Shotgun Willie, Amazeballs, World's End, all the others they constantly pull out, and all the spontaneous beers he soon will be creating in the coolship Chief and Benz now have to "play" with.

Schlafly Tasmanian IPA. Most of their stuff is fine but I was blown away by the TIPA.

now this is just what i've heard it may or may not be true but the alchemist is going to brew different styles of beer like they used to but only for growler fills. now again im not 100% on this rumor. if anyone would like to confirm this or chime in as to what they heard go ahead. crossing my fingers.

I can't think of one off the top of my head, but there are definitely some of them that I don't much care for the flagship beer, but I like the other stuff. With Ithaca, I've never much cared for their older beers (Pale Ale, Nut Brown, etc.), but I quite like most of the newer ones (FP, Cascazilla, Ground Break, the large format stuff).

Flying Fish Exit 16 - this could be one of the best east coast double IPAs
Abita Andygator (but I love a good maibock)
    Widmer Columbia Common

The good will created by those two beers is almost completely undone by Brass Knuckle.

Never had it. I heard the latest non-brett one was infected with brett, so that's something to seek out.

Agree with the Fort Collins Brewing mention (Double Chocolate Coffee Stout is their one gem for me) and also agree with Epic (Big Bad Baptist, great, the rest failed to impress me....though I have yet to try Elder Brett).

I will also add Left Hand. Their Milk Stout is a Top 10 beer for me, but the rest of their catalog I wouldn't miss if I never tried again. Might need to give Sawtooth another shot though, I always enjoyed that but its been a few years since I last had a bottle of it.

hah, yes. i don't remember if i could taste the brett, but i did know about the infection rumor before i traded for it. it was very good, but less bretty than the last (like i said, i don't remember if i could detect brett at all; i think i did but suspected it was placebo). then again, brett likes to take its time, so the beer might taste like an armpit now.

Fellow BA Sammyjaxxxx hooked me up with a couple of bottles of Exit 16. It was indeed excellent. I haven't had anything else from Flying Fish though, so I can't compare it. Exit 16 sets the bar high for sure.

I just drainpoured that beer. It sucked. That being said, their BBA DOuble ESB and BBA double Scottish Ale are great beers.
My wife likes the Watermelon wheat...which is a diactyl bomb if there ever was one...blech.

Two outstanding stouts come outta my area (Delmarva...look it up). Evo Craft Brewing's (Salisbury, MD) Rise Up made with organic coffee, and Old Dominion's (Dover, DE) Morning Glory...an awesome expresso stout. Both a little heavy and plenty hoppy. Make all the hop heads happy and wide awake!

I just sampled Morning Glory the other day as part of a taste test of potential new candidates to bring into my bar. I was pretty impressed. The artwork on the pinup series wasn't bad either!

Aw man, i disagree on flying fish. I like farmhouse summer and oktoberfish. Aged exit 4 is one of the best tripels made in the US, IMO.
