That's a part of the problem. If it's a chore to even crack open and try, how is it going to change the perception you've built over the previous four experiences? It's already starting at a disadvantage.

Now, if you send it to me, I'll review it and let you know if you missed out

Whatever I buy I drink whether I truly enjoy it or not. I don't believe in drain pours if I paid for it I drink it. With that said Dark Horse lost the battle with me when Bourbon Barrel Plead The 5th ended up being one of the most worse beers I ever consumed. Its listed in top 250 on BA so should be amazing but its not. Sure I'd trade Dark Horse with anyone close by but I won't go through the hassles to ship it. I have 8 bottles to drink and it will be a slow process but it will be done.

You're good, dude. I was kidding about the sending me the bottle part. Bummer that you don't enjoy their offerings, and can't get rid of them otherwise. Personally, I've only had regular Plead the 5th. While I enjoyed it, I didn't think it was a life-altering stout.

I also agree in avoiding drain pours, although I have taken to pouring out beers I've opened that I don't enjoy. I may have paid for it, but if my liver can only filter so much alcohol, I'm sure as hell not going to take away the ability to process a good beer in the future. As for disposing of already purchased bottles, that's a bit more tricky. Not sure how best to handle that. I did buy a 6er of a Southern Tier DIPA, and ended up gifting 4 of the 6 bottles back to the shop I bought it at so they could use it in a tasting. It pulled me some nice favors too, even though I already knew them well.

For me, the magic number is usually two..Unless the first offering is excecptionally bad. Too many good breweries to hope for a winner after two tries.

Wow, hate to be harsh but I give em two tries if their quality sucks first try. Why bother more than that when around here the problem is finding enough time to try all the great beers from locals that don't suck?

3 consecutive bad beers gets a brewery dropped from my sight. Let's face it, even the best breweries have a miss or two every now and again. Odell has some great beer on the market, but I have had a few beers from them I don't care for, same with Avery and New Belgium. I still try their beers because the misses are few and far between. Rogue, on the other hand, I quit drinking because the three or four beers I have tried from them were all beers I didn't care for.
