@zebracrackhead I hit up 3 stores around downtown area and they were all out. If you haven't had Hoptometrist I would recommend finding some of that along with Coop F5. Other than that, I really didn't find much to bring home. Picked up some Raspberry Jam BW from Tallgrass, that is a damned good beer for a Houston summer. The only other stuff I grabbed was This Machine from Marshall which is a Belgian IPA and quite a solid one I think. By far one of the biggest surprises was Nine Band IPA from Dead Armadillo brewing. I had it once on Friday I think and then had it Sunday at the Tavern for a late lunch. That beer was beautiful, it kept a 1 finger creamy head the whole time I was drinking it and left beautiful lacing on the glass. This is just a solid good drinking IPA.

Sounds like a place I would check out. However...McNellie's is my spot in T-town. Now with Prairie's taproom in operation, it's going to be hard to pick a place to go. Hope downtown Tulsa can provide enough patrons for all three. Guess it makes for some good bar hopping.

Yeah, did Prairie, and it was ok, just a weird vibe. This marks the first time I have been to Tulsa and didn't set foot in McNellie's (was sad all the way home). We went into Prairie about 3pm Sunday to check on what their menu would be that night (since 1/4th of it is based off of Burn Co. they don't have those items on Sunday) they informed us that they would be closed at 5pm, unannounced and no sign on the door stating so, so we sat down and had some beers. The taster I ordered 3 of the 5 beers were tapped and never replaced so I filled them with others. There didn't seem to be anyone there managing things, people just moving around looking busy. Hopefully they will find a groove, that said, the place is beautiful inside.

I'm heading back home to Tulsa and I haven't been home in about 2 years. Any good places to check out that you recommend? I know the Oklahoma beer laws haha

I'm sure they need practice like any new place, but it seems they went up pretty fast and maybe unprepared as a result. When I first heard of this venture, the word was they'd be open in less than a month. Wow, that's fast. They've invested too much money to allow themselves to be unsuccessful. Those guys are really Oklahoma's flagship brewer so a failure would be very unsettling for them and their fans. I hope it becomes a Tulsa destination.

I am sure it will, like I said, good taps, great interior layout, just need to work on the menu, and manage it.

    Hey guys,

Will be in Norman for the Buckeyes/Sooners game on 9/17. It's a Sat. night game so we'll be staying in the general area. I searched under Norman but hit on very little information...hoping to get a couple burger-type meal and beer suggestions with a focus on tap selection and possibly a bottle shop where I could snag some of these offerings yall have listed in this thread. I welcome any suggestions and feedback.

I can tell you I'm NOT huntin Prairie. I mean, if I were to stumble across some of their harder to find stouts I would buy them, but that is not my reason for coming...oh no. I want the hidden gems, those beautiful stepsisters that are hiding in the shadow of PAA. You know the ones - smallish boobs with shitdang! asses and maybe a couple crooked teeth here or there. Anyway, me and my buddy have agreed to only drink Okie beers during this trip, so we'll leave Texas with some Alpha Hive and see where we go from there.

Hoping some fellow BAs can guide us to the Okie promised land, where the beer flows like wine.

COOP: F5, DNR, Berliner Weisse (and variants), anything from the Territorial Reserve series
RoughTail: IPA, Hoptometrist, Pale Ale -- this is the go to brewery for being hop-centric
Elk Valley: La Ferme (and variants), Nemesis/Coffee Nemesis, eXperimental IPA, Schank!
    Iron Monk: Milk Stout
Anthem: Uroboros, Arjuna, Golden One, Ogletoberfest
Twisted Spike: Dirty Blonde, Golden Spike, Holy Beer -- brand new brewery so I don't know about distribution yet, but they had some great beer at the beerfest back in June.
Marshall: Big Jamoke, El Cucuy, Black Dolphin.

Keep in mind that as of tomorrow, August 26, breweries will be allowed to sell high-point (read: >3.2%) at the breweries' tasting rooms.

Would love to try more beers from Oklahoma. Surprised Texas hasn't gotten much from OK except for Prairie.

I don't know how much of the COOP portfolio Texas has gotten yet (I'm assuming F5, Alpha Hive, DNR, Horny Toad, & Elevator), but hopefully you all will get some of the Territorial Reserve series as it gets later in the year, or into the beginning of next year.

Check out 405 Brewing Co., McNellie's The Abner's Ale House, The Garage Burgers & Beer and go to The Spirit Shop for packaged beer. Go Sooners! :grinning:
