Oktoberfest 2016 - Craft Beer Recommendations

If you enjoy Camba's offerings as much as we do; you should check out the Camba Bier Festival later this month. The Frau & I attended last year and had a good enough time that we're going again this year, but with a couple locals we've converted to the Craft Beer side. There will be 100 different beers available.

I say go to the Oktoberfest one day, then go to Camba Bavaria's Tap House for the other evenings. After you've had your fill of crammed tents of tourist, go to a place that has craft beer from all over, like Tap House, where you'll find Belgian, German, American, etc. They have 42 beers on tap and over 200 craft beers from all over the world, including Germany. Now, you're also welcome to visit all the tourist traps such as Hofbräu Haus or Augustinius Keller, and though they've got outstanding Pils and other bottom fermented beers, they aren't the best by far in Germany, but if you're only staying in München, that might be as good a place to get decent Pils.

 

I would say that anyone that hasn't been to Hofbräu Haus should go once even though it is touristy,

 

And there's always the HB Keller too, quite nice and much less touristy.
