Seems like it should be "about that time" for Oktoberfest beers. So far, the only one I've seen is Widmer. Who in the NW makes a great Marzen?

I'm sure there's a few, but consumers out here seem to have a strong preference for fresh hopped <insert style> over oktoberfest/marzen beers, so that's what most of the breweries focus on.

Good Oktoberfest lagers, off the top of my head:

    Heater Allen Bobtoberfest
    Leavenworth Oktoberfest
    Bayern Okotberfest
    Firestone Walker Oaktoberfest

The one I look forward to every year is Hopworks 'Fest of Fury', which is a fresh-hopped Märzen. It's not bottled, tho', and I only see it at the local 'fresh hop' festivals (Hood River or Portland) or on draft at HUB's 2 pubs...

PS +1 to Heater Allen Bobtoberfest & FW Oaktoberfest

Occidental is a brewery that really focuses on the more traditional German styles. Festbier was really good last year but is tap only like the rest of their beers. It's worth searching out although they haven't said it's available yet on their FB page. Pay them a visit next time you're in St John's during the evening regardless. It's a cool spot and growler fills are $8-$10 depending on the night you visit.

    Also, +2 to Bobtoberfest.

Thanks! I'm in Portland (should have mentioned that), so I'll have to seek them out.

Any ideas on when Bobtoberfest typical shows up on shelves?

Seriously, Occidental makes some really awesome German beer. I definitely second that recommendation!

Silver City Octoberfest is a really nice brew. It's in stores now.

Silver City Oktoberfest is not great but is decent.

It should arrive later this week, assuming the bottling went OK last week.
