I found a store selling Victoryat Sea for $9, but the Enjoy By Date stamped on the bottle is November 2013. Is it worth getting 7-8 months after the Enjoy By Date? When was it bottled?

Ballast Point's website says they now use a bottled on date, but the stamp on these bottles clearly say "enjoy by 11/09/13"

I personally would avoid it and spend my money on a sure thing. It probably isn't bad, but I imagine the coffee and vanilla are faded.

Just had one with same date a few months ago and tasted as awesome as always.

I've had one about that age and while the coffee has obviously faded a bit, the vanilla was a bit more pronounced than when fresh. I'd say it's well worth the $9 imho

I've had year old V@S (old label) and it was great.

I see those same labels and dates around my area. I was worried the first time I bought one, but now have no fears. They are still delicious.

I would like to do a fresh vs. old side by side however. Anyone ever done it?

This is by far my favorite shelf beer. I opened one I found at a shop that was 2 years old and it was still great. Never done the side by side. That would be awesome! However I simply can't seem to hang on to them long enough haha.

I opened a relatively fresh bottle of this last Saturday and drank 1/2 of it, put cap back on and left in fridge. Two days later it tasted good and was still well carbonated. I put a wine stopper on it and 3 days later had some more, still tasted good. Not as good day one, but was surprised how well this beer held up.

I've had it about a year old and as others have said, the coffee and vanilla fade a bit. But it is still delicious. $9 is about the normal cost for it as far as I know.

I'm just curious how long-term vintage ones taste. I opened a Stone IRS '06 the other day and was shocked how good it aged.

I bought about 8 bottles of this beer last summer at a bottle shop in Upstste NY for $1.99 (stupid price!) a bomber. I'm not sure the bottling date, however. They're still tasting great.

I'd say to grab a couple- however you're not getting that great of a deal.

Victory at sea that's more than two weeks old is not worth it IMO. Sort of like Pliny.

working for ballast point, ive had side by side comparisons of V@S of fresh(day after bottling) with 1 year aged and 2 year aged. the fresh is like pure espresso, and as far as the coffee fading, I didn't notice too much of a difference from the 1-2 years. they had both fallen off a significant amount from fresh obviously, but IMO they were far more drinkable and more delicious. so yes, buy them.

Buy one bottle. If you are interested in it...why not? You'll find a way to blow $9 on something else anyway.

You realize that not just the date, but the shipping and handling affect the final outcome. If the place you buy it from has a good reputation, go for it. If it's a corner store sitting among the Bud Lites, maybe not worth the try.

I say this because I've had bottles that old that were fine, and others the same age or younger that were not good at all. A little more of a crap shoot when there's age on the bottle.

I don't remember where I heard the information, but I heard somewhere that it is one of the best beers to age. Take it for what it's worth, like I said I can't find a link to prove what I heard.
