I was present for the beginning of the craft beer movement and have a bunch of old empty bottles gathering dust in my attic — for instance New Albion and Grants. I also have some full bottles of Sierra Nevada Big Foot Barley Wine, including the original black and white label, and they still taste great. Does anyone know what they might be worth?
Welcome to the BA site, Paul. There isn't much of a secondary market for old bottles, whether full or not, thus no history of transactions from which you can develop a list of sales and prices to create an estimated value. So the value is essentially established per transaction per finding someone who wants what you have, and then the success in the negotiation to reach a deal. There could be some takers of the full bottles of the Big Foot because it's known that style of beer can age without spoiling. But the likely interested takers would not pay much because it's like a curiosity interest rather than investment (there's no such thing as fine beers like fine wine), and people don't spend very much on curiosity. The BA site does not permit sale transactions through these forums; however, there is a Trading Forum if you're a beer geek and want to get something that interests you in a trade for your full bottles. I think there is also a Breweriana Trading forum behind the screen that covers the trading forums, and you might find takers for rare empty bottles. To check out the trading forums scroll all the way to bottom of the community page (https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/) and follow the link there to find out how to get signed up and access those forums. Good luck. There are also Breweriana forums on the internet that might tell you more about your collection value.
