On my last trip to Fed Ex the rep said my boxes were too used to be shipped and put my box into a new box for me. Asked if I had to pay and she said no that for account holders boxes are free. I confirmed this with Fed Ex via instant chat and have ordered boxes. How funny we at BA have been sending boxes held together by a thread and there are free boxes available to us. Was not sure anyone knew about this. Look out world I am about to send some fresh boxes out into the trading community. My wife will be happy I can finally throw out a garage full of old boxes and replace them with nice new ones.
And I thought my box you were gonna re-send to me was in good shape (I've used worse ) I didn't know that though about free boxes so thanks man! Great info for BA that I don't think is common knowledge.
Just ordered me some boxes. I noticed they also allow you to order the padded paks that are made from bubble wrap. I use those to wrap bottles when I can get them from the post office. They run out of them quickly because they are free there as well but FedEx let me order 25 as part of my order. Thanks Warren!!
Do they let you order regular boxes that can be used with ground shipping somewhere? All I can seem to find is boxes that would be for express or international flat rate only.
Yes they do offer ground shipping. I think you need to click the top section of the header where you see the international boxes and you should see more choices. I received 10 each of medium (20pds limit) and large deep (50 pound limit). I also asked my local fed ex store and they said that they will give you boxes if you ask and have an account set up.
The brown ones are international flat rate only. The white ones (like FedEx® Extra Large Box (X1: Cube-shaped)) are all marked with the orange fedex logo, which is for express. I don't think they have boxes available for ground shipping. Unless they don't care if you ship ground in express boxes...
Exactly. I have gotten away with reusing international flat rate boxes that were sent to me, but never using Express boxes with ground.
i know with a lot of USPS boxes people used to turn them inside out and use them for anything. Since they were free. Which is why the inside of them is now printed with USPS all over it.
I just got a call from FedEx saying that since all I have ever shipped from my account was via ground I couldn't order boxes, so they cancelled my order.
Reading into it, it appears UPS offers a similar deal. This is great news! (two weeks from now all the beer nerds deplete supplies of Fedex boxes and they become no longer free)
Time to eat crow! I received my fed ex boxes they were indeed express boxes. I was able to flip my box inside out and use it. When I went to Fed Ex and asked how to order the normal brown boxes like the original rep told me to I was advised that only Express boxes are free. I am sorry for any confusion I have caused. So only way to get free boxes is order the Express boxes and turn them inside out.
