They could get away with $17 given the very limited availability. But one would hope that if it ever does see wider distribution they'd drop the price. I won't hold my breath for either scenario to happen though.

I would love to hear more about this "bottle" taste. Is it all bottles. Glass bottles? Plastic bottles? If beer is put into glass growler does acquire the "bottle" taste. We need a whole forum on bottle taste.

Do people realize how small BBC's "pilot" brewery in Jamaica Plain is?

(I don't - not anymore, anyway, since I think it's been expanded quite a bit in recent years. Anybody got good info on its actual capacity these days? What sort of canning line do they have there? $17 might reflect the lack of capacity and packaging automation/efficiency.)

The economics of that tiny brewhouse are irrelevant in the scope of Sam Adams, in my opinion. And there are smaller breweries throughout the area putting out beers at lower prices that likely cost more to produce. Old Fezz isn't using expensive, in demand hops. And Sam's cost for ingredients is going to be lower than pretty much anyone. It's just a markup because they can.

Well, the JP brewery has been expanded to at least include a proper tap room now. I'm not sure if the brewing capacity has expanded as well.

They're also brewing at the new Faneuil Hall location too, which is where I picked up this four pack (or at least it looked like they brewing there, there were tanks on display next to the upper level bar).

I'm curious what the other four packs there cost and/or what four packs cost at the JP tap room.

I was wondering whether there was going to be 'consequences' with the Boston Beer Company - DFH 'merger'. Unfortunately this does indeed appear to be the case?:slight_frown:

    Cheers!
