was just given an old DIPA recipe kit a friend had forgotten about and not brewed -- about 10 months old -- trouble is, the hops weren't refrigerated. vaccuum sealed HopUnion packets which were then all vaccuum sealed in a larger bag.

I've opened a sample of each hop variety and while the aroma isn't 100%, it's still hoppy and not 'cheesy' as if it was seriously oxidized.

I realize I'm not going to get the beer that was intended - but am I dreaming that it'll be drinkable ?

if it matters, the hops are:

    simcoe, columbus, centennial

thanks for any info you can share

Were they green still, or getting yellow?

green - fading perhaps - but nowhere near yellow.

I'd say try them out. The nitrogen flushed packs are good, and while the heat obviously isn't ideal, they should give you something if you just want to see how it rolls.

Expect the AA% to be much less, due to heat and age, so the beer won't be as bitter as intended.
