I recently ordered some cans of Old Nation online and while the Boss Tweed and Cart Horse were fresh and looked as expected, I noticed that the M-43 does not have a canning date on the bottom. What's more, if you shine a flashlight at the bottom, circular scratch marks can clearly be seen, even though the picture does not show them that well. Does Old Nation not put a canning on M-43 specifically for some odd reason or am I correct in assuming that the date has actually been scratched off here to hide the age of the can? I took some steel wool to the other cans to test this and surely the print and paint blobs came off.
I've never seen them without dates. Have purchased probably close to a dozen four packs at different times.
Same as everyone else. Bought M-43 maybe 3 or 4 times, including getting some in a trade before it saw distro here. Always has dates. Those pics certainly look suspicious...
Joke is on whoever scratched those off because you can easily melt the date codes away with some acetone.
Scratched for sure - I’ve seen my share of Old Nation cans and they have always, 100% of the time had canning dates.
The dates are there. I was at Old Nation today and looked at both M43 and Boss Tweed. Both had clear as day dates listed on the bottom of the can.
Now that enough ON is distributed that I need to look at dates, I always look & have never seen anything like that. Dates are always easily visible on every can that I've seen
