My wife has rented a beer tour package for my 40th birthday. In total, she has about 14 people who have RSVPed. Our shuttle is picking us up in Old Town. I've never been to this area of San Diego for beer. I generally stick to Northern SD. Any suggestions on places to hit up? They are allowing us to choose the 3 breweries. I'm looking for places that are less mainstream. Any sleepers in that area to check out? Thank you in advance.
Do you know what the radius that the tour can travel? Modern Times in Point Loma (Lomaland as they call it) isn’t too far away. There’s also Coronado Brewing and Bitter Beothers up on the 5 fwy but there are better places to recommend depending on the distance traveled.
Coronado, Bitter Brothers, Deft, Ballast Point/Homebrew Mart, and the Benchmark tasting room are all close by. My picks would be Deft, Benchmark, and Bitter Brothers.
She booked with Hot Shots Brewery Tours. It looks like they will travel well out of Old Town. My only request was Societe since I've never been there.
It seems they will accommodate us with any distance. We just need to keep 3 locations within a 5 hour period.
A good idea might be to find 2 breweries that are a bit farther away (like Pure Project, Alesmith or Mikkeller) off Miramar Road, start there and finish off with Societe on your way back to Old Town. Modern Times and the others mentioned around Old Town can be hit up afterwards after your tour. Just an idea though.
