I picked up four bottles over the weekend - $3.99 @ Brawley's Charlotte - plan on trying one tonight. What's the verdict? I haven't seen many posts about it but my boy JdoubleA sez it's moving off the shelves in Hickory.

Worth 3.99. Had it on cask last month, and it was pretty good. There's a nice bitter nuttiness in there. Just the right amount of residual sweetness, a nice creamy mouthfeel...I only had several tasters worth and enjoyed it, but I would definitely like to revisit it. I was in Tasty in Raleigh last night and didn't see bottles yet but will definitely grab a couple when they surface here.

They are in Raleigh right now, along with Southern Cross (Hoppy Pilsner made w/ all New Zealand hops) :grinning:.

A guy named Brian Pesci was the winner of the 3rd annual Olde Hickor Pro Am and the brewery made his winning recipe as a limited release; it's an English brown ale with a shload of pecans. You can read more about it here: http://www.oldehickorybrewery.com/blogs/index.php

As has become tradition with OHB, the label is - uh - well, look for yourself.

Were you at the Peabody's event? I'm curious if that's where you had it on cask.

BTW - if so - I made a last minute decision not to head up the mountain for the cellar opening, I'm curious how many folks were in line and more importantly, when that line started forming.

Yes, Steven brought the B's Nuts cask to Peabody's. The line had some folks in it pretty early on...we got to town about two hours early and drove past, and there were 4-5 people there. Went to walk the dog for a bit around campus and then came back. We were probably 10th in line about an hour before the sale, and the crowds started showing up shortly thereafter. By sale time, there were maybe 50 people or so. 10th was not good enough to grab any of the special single bottles mixed in (Huna, BA Naked Evil, Parabola, etc.), but it was good enough to snag an EvHo, SC, and a Cantillon Classic.

Tasty is out of B's Nuts by the way...sounds like they didn't get too much.

Sams Quik Shop, Hope Valley Bottle Shop, Beer Dispensary, and Triangle Wine will all have some by the end of the day.

Not too bad...some things were better than others. I think Event Horizons were like $17-18 or so?

That's not bad at all, actually. I saw them range from $12.99 to $17.99 when they first hit the Charlotte area. That's a damn good pick-up for $18 at this point - fantastic brew.

Thanks for the info - I feel better about missing the event, by the time I got there I would have been behind you in line probably and it sounds like the great stuff got snagged up pretty quickly. It's a shame they let folks buy multiple bottles of the same stuff - seems like it would have been better for them to only allow one of each.

Plenty at Bestway, I passed, brown ale with pecans didn't excite me much.

I thought it was pretty average but at least it only cost me $4 to find out

It is a good brown ale. Definitely get pecans in the nose and finish. But not astringent.

I honestly do, bro! I thought about it all day - I had some crap I had to take care of and wouldn't have gotten there early as hell... like I wanted to. By the time I could leave I would have been way back in line and that aint my style. If I could've spent the night I still would have made the trek but I had stuff to do that night.

Hope to see you soon - still want to see that cellar.
