As @brentk56 says, no sign ups or anything, open to the public. Bring some bottles, bring a cooler (there will be ice available, but room runs out), meet some folks and have a good time.

Any chance in hell of just rolling up and grabbing an allotment without dealing with the line?

Always a chance, but will be impossible to know until the day of, just like all releases.

Zero chance in hell of that happening.

It looks like with the chatter going on, even if you show up before dawn the morning of you are going to have a tough chance at bottles. But hey, people love standing in line for 'camaraderie' from what I have heard lately.

the only time i have ever seen a 240 person line in NC is for BASC. Even before they did tickets Wicked Weed didnt pull that many.

Pretty sure Burial Seasoned Skillet drew that many (and I don't think they had 240 allocations either...) as have Green Man Maceo and 1 or two of the Fonta Flora releases. Not certain on any of those, but having been in or seen those lines, pretty certain they were 200+.

That being said, OHB releases tend to be low key, though I missed Calico Jack which was probably the only one that sold out to the people in line.

Lets see, BA Skillet, Calico, Snozzberry, Maceo, French Toast, Smores... I could keep listing recent releases that have had at least 240ish people by the time the releases started in NC.

If 150+ allocations of RR could sell out in less than 5 minutes, and Olde Hickory themselves saying that anticipate the whole sale being done by 10am, I am not sure where you think there will be 'no line' except on Sat afternoon when its long sold out and everyone is at Fonta Flora.

Selling out of a 150 beer allocations, on the internet, of a weekend pick up time, is completely different than people getting up at 6 am, or earlier, and driving and standing in line....

And his other sentence? The one you cut? Your point was you'd never seen a 240 person line in NC. Our point is that there have been a number of them. I listed some, and @c64person listed some. No idea whether Spectrum will be that way or not, but saying it hasn't happened in NC is a bit odd (which is what both of us were responding to).

Well I guess my only hope is that not everyone gets full allotments since I won't be getting there until 10:30 or so...

Fine, idk why everyone is so defensive. I originally said I haven't seen it, doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

While in town, folks from out of town should remember not only will OHB have the Spectrum Series, they also have:

Event horizon ('16 GABF silver and '12 WBC bronze winner)

Irish Walker ('16 GABF Gold, '16 WBC Bronze, '14 WBC Silver, '13 GABF Silver, and '10 WBC Silver winner)

Imperial Stout ('12 WBC Bronze medal winner)

Dread God (Imperial Stout aged in McCallan barrels)

Wavell Gun (Scotch Ale aged in McCallan barrels)

Lindley Park (Imperial Stout with raspberries added aged in Bourbon Barrels)

and also a couple cases maybe of Manhattan and Blendy Bar.

It would be worth the trip for a mixed 12 of those luscious big beers. Spectrum is just the super rare cherry on top.

No one is being defensive. We're just pointing out that your experience isn't current. Hell, no one stands in line for BASC, in the last couple years, because they 'need' to; the beer lasts for hours/days after the release. They do it because it's a fun party.

If they are sold out by the time you make it, I think it will be available on draft. I know it's not the same as scoring bottles but at least you get the chance to sample them.

Yeah, I'll be happy either way...no complaints from this guy...

For those in the know, how fast does this line move? Is there a chance that folks might be moving through for round two by 10:30?

With the hype of this release I'm not sure there will be any left for folks to go through twice. With that said, the line moves at a steady pace. It certainly isn't fast, but the awesome people at OHB do their best to make it go as fast as possible. It's cash only too. Some people forget that.

-Everything I listed is currently available in bottles. EvHo, LiPa, IrWa, and ImpSt should all be on draft as well.

Not you're just making up acronyms

But yeah, lots of good bottles out right now. I'm amazed that the bottles from the last 2 releases (Wavell Gunn, Dred God, Manhattan, and Blendy Bar) are all still around at the Station and the local beer stores (for the first two anyway).
