Just started seeing 6-packs of Ruby Lager pop up around here (Asheville), and they're going for as high as $12.99 a 6-pack. Granted, it's still a better value than an $8.99 bomber of the same beer, but I was just wondering if folks are seeing this go for any cheaper in the rest of the state. Also, has anyone seen any of the other beers show up in sixers?

I was really, really surprised to see those for 12.99 in Hickory. So, I doubt it will be cheaper anywhere else. I think they bottled the Ruby Lager first, then they bottled Lindley Park. Maybe they'll start the other sixers next.

Too much competition for $12.99 a sixer. Good Stuff, no doubt, just not $12.99/sixer good!

Seems like I have had Ruby lager one time on tap at the Brew pub and it was alright. I have bought a lot of their beer in bombers, just not that one. They always had a reasonable price on them, for the most part, but yeah $12.99 a sixer is a bit steep. Although, I think Foothills was close when they first started doing sixers and now they are down to a more reasonable $9.99 and I have seen them on sale for as little as $7.99. Maybe this is an adjustment period?

Uh, $12.99 for Ruby Lager? Really? It's like 4.2%. That's an acceptable price for Death by Hops 6er but not Ruby Lager. Hope they don't screw up this change in packaging.

So good news for everyone, Death by Hops is coming to 6 packs. Ive been slated a New Years release for work. Price might be a bit crazy (12.99), but Ill bite.

Ruby Lager is 10.99 same as Sams Bottle.

Also, Ive been assured that the high price is an initial thing. Theyre going to lower the cost after the initial run.

I work at Total Wine Durham. Thats what we have it priced at. Also, underprice Irish Walker aged on Spanish Cedar 32 oz growlers. 10.99 for a 32 oz...

Living near Missouri, I got sticker shock off of several beers the last time I was back in NC. Take heart; y'all at least get more variety at a premium...

Not a fan of the new labels...New death and lindley park labels are turrible...at least the beer is still so damn good...wonder what The Event Horizon label will look like...

I don't mind the DBH or LP labels but thought the EH one was terrible. It has been posted around here somewhere.

Well, they're batting a .1000 with bad labels...I still love the beer in those bottles...especially TEH...

Story I heard yesterday is that an employee at Olde Hickory has some graphic design experience and they are in charge of the labels now...

We get IPA's from the west coast here in Raleigh that are fresher than the Death by Hops bombers that come in sometimes. I haven't even thought about buying anything from them other than Irish Walker in quite a while. Maybe this format change will help that.

But Ruby Lager for $12.99? LOL

Ah, that's right. You had mentioned in a thread a while back that's where you work. Obviously, T-wine's prices are going to be unbeatable so I guess it's kind of pointless to expect "normal" retail shops to do much better.

How do you know the Death by Hops bombers aren't that fresh? IIRC, OH doesn't have freshness dates on their beers.

They previously used "best by" dates, which included a notched month/year, similar to what Sam Adams uses. With the format change, they have switched to a "bottled on" date, which is much preferred in my opinion

That's what I was told by one of the owners at a shop I frequent. He was aggravated about it. Granted they weren't "old" in abolute terms, just older than you'd expect from a brewery in your state. I think they were like 3-4 weeks old, and he had Alesmith and Knee Deep stuff sitting right beside it that were 2 weeks old.

The reason why you are seeing higher prices in Asheville is because we currently have a distributor there. In the Triangle market we self distribute which translates to lower pricing.

Which is better than some of the old labels. The old DBH label looks like it was designed by a 5 year old. And I do think you mean (based on your comments) that they are batting 1.000. 10% (.1000) bad labels wouldn't be too bad really.
