I have an aquaintance who will be portraying a brewster at a living history event, specifically Elizabethan. Can anyone recommend books on brewing that may have recipes from that period? Thanks!

Elizabeth the 1st? 7 September 1533 – 24 March 1603 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_beer Prior to the late 18th century, malt was primarily dried over fires made from wood, charcoal, or straw, and after 1600, from coke. So the beer is going to be smokey tasting. IMHO.
I'd go with a grain bill that was something like 50% pale ale malt 30% smoked malt 10% amber malt 10% brown malt Probably something lower gravity, but that's up to you. Also, the English were among the last to adopt hops, so it would probably be bittered with herbs/spices.
She won't actually be brewing anything, just portraying someone who does. She just wants some info so she knows what she's talking about.
