Hi, as a crowncap collector myself, I'm always happy to view another collector's caps to see if there are any that I don't have and can add to my 'wants' list or any from new breweries that I'm not aware of. Thanks for sharing.

What brewery is the last row third from the right? Interesting logo

I believe that the crown cap in question is actually upside down in the scan - but anyway, it may have come from the 'Local Color Brewing Co' (Novi, Michigan) which apparently closed a few years ago. Not sure if the brand has been taken over by another brewing co.

I think that is correct that the cap is upside down and was from the Local Color Brewing. If I recall correctly, that brewery became a contract brewer after giving up on producing their own bottled beers, and then it changed names to something else (maybe it was Liquid Manufacturing), but I don't know if different ownership was involved or whatever the reason for the name change. I don't think they are brewing anymore, but a contract brewer usually keeps it's name in the background.

Cool stuff! A couple of caps from now-defunct breweries from out my way I noticed are the Golden Bear (good beer) and Coast Range (really awful beer, nice cap). I've always loved that Great Divide, too. What's the one by itself on the left?

I believe the text on the crown says 'Pennsylvania Microbrewers Guild' and the crown is from the 'Victory Brewing Company', Downington, Pennsylvania. Sadly, I don't have that cap in my collection and so I have added it to my USA 'Wanted List'.

[IMG] Speaking of old caps, I just got this in the mail today! I have been waiting since 1988 for this cap! It is my Holy Grail cap and I can now quit collecting caps (but never will). Thanks to sdeese21 (who remembered my profile quote, traded for a full bottle of it, drank it with pals and sent me the cap!) for hookin' me up, you got a box o' fun headed your way!!

I suppose the 1988, 1989 and 1990 Bigfoot caps are from your collection? If not, and they are for sale/trade let me know:-)

All from my collection, under lock and key! It was the only one in the series (minus a champagne-style one they put out in 2011...ISO!) that I didn't have and drank the beer under each of all but the '87 and '88. I (did) have an extra of every year you don't need, if I'm not mistaken... I will certainly keep you in mind if I run across any from the earlier years.

It is upside down. I don't remember the brewery. The art is a bunch of Easter Island style heads side by side.

So many of these caps remind me of a couple of trips to the GABFinn the mid '90s and early '00s, especially the Flying Fish!

I hope no one minds me piggy-backing on this thread.

I came across a bag of about 1000 caps that I had hoarded/collected back between 1989-1995 or so. The majority of them are Canadian Macro, but their is a good smattering of Canadian Regional and Micro as well as Foreign brewed under license. Also some Imports that were available at the SAQ back then.

Here are some photos. I don't expect there is anything special here, but any collectors out there who see something they need, please do not hesitate to contact me as I would be happy to send some your way.

Hi, this is a lovely set of caps and thanks for sharing. I would be interested in buying all of them from you if they were for sale as a job lot. Alternatively there are a few foreign caps that I would be keen to add to my collection: Tennents Sweetheart Stout; McEwan's Export; Young & Co Old Nick; and Newcastle Brown Ale. If you are interested in selling or trading for other caps please let me know. Though I live in the UK, I have family that live in Canada (Saskatchewan) and so I can arrange overseas postage from there if you were happy to post to that province? Thanks and best wishes.

    Boy. That was fast!

I've had a couple responses to my post already, both here and by private message. I am going to try to make everyone who is interested in obtaining some caps happy to some degree. I'll be in touch individually over the next day or two. Please, no offers of money. I'll either give away, or trade to whomever is interested.

Some additional info on the caps: Most of the caps are showing at least some wear due to age. For the photos, I chose some of the better ones as examples. The metallic ones (Budweiser, Miller) and some of the Canadian coloured ones (Laurentide, O'Keefe) tend to have faired worse overall. Others, like the oldest Labatt Blue, and the Boreale (the ones with the polar bear) in many cases look almost like they were removed from a bottle yesterday.

Also, with regard to the majority of the Canadian Macro, and the US and Foreign brands brewed under license in Canada, I have more than one cap (in some cases up to 100-150. 1000 caps was a very conservative estimate).

I have smaller multiples of some of the Quebec Micro and Canadian Regional caps as well (2-10 or so of some, but not all of them). Most Ontario and Maritimes Micro and Regional caps are singles, as are the Foreign Imported.

I also have a very small few US (New England) caps from the same era (1991-1995) that for some reason I forgot to photograph. From memory. these include Sam Adams, Harpoon, Kennebunkport, Gritty's, Gearys and maybe one or two others. A couple of these I plan to keep as they were obtained while on vacation with my father before he passed away, and seeing them again has made me feel a little nostalgic). If you'd like to see them, I can take a photo.

Because 95% of these were from bottles purchased in Quebec, some of the Molson Export caps have Quebec specific things printed on the inner side as well. These are primarily Montreal Canadiens and Montreal Grand Prix connected. If you would like to see these, please let me know, and I can take some photos. The Canadiens ones list a player's name with his statistics versus a particular team.

    Cheers!
