2011, the first year I tried the beer. It's also the first beer I decided to cellar.

Several years ago I phoned Sierra Nevada to confirm/verify the date of the B&W Bigfoot. This is what I was told:
    - 1983 the beer was called Bigfoot Strong Ale
    - 1983/4 the labels were B&W with gold caps, 1984 the style on the label changed to barleywine
    - 1985 the label became colored with a gold cap
    - 1986 colored label with Sierra Nevada blue cap
    - 1987 dating began with blue cap

In the late 80s/early 90s I worked for Mark Weiner at Berose Liquors in Washington, DC. Mark would ship (FedEx Priority Overnight) beer from microbreweries from all over the country to sell at his store. The 1984 Bigfoot was one of the beers he brought in.

Started cellaring beer in 2012, decided I would start with (among others) Bigfoot. I have five bottles of 2012, and 23 bottles of 2013. I'll plan on buying a case each year and see what happens. I have decent self control and have loved the aged Bigfoots I've tried (oldest being from '98) so I plan on drinking virtually none of them for years and years. Love this beer.

I didn't start cellaring until 2011, but planning on having a 13-year vertical for 2023 (with an annual vertical every year until then).

I have a pair of the 2009 Bigfoot release. The oldest Bigfoot I've had was the 1994 keg that SN brought to the EBF in 2010.

1987. Gorgeous label. Had 2 of these. Cellared this one and opened the other last year at EBF in Boston along with a 2003 and 2015.

It's funny to see posts with a gap of two years! I just cracked one of my '05 bottles, and it was amazing. I wish I had some that were a bit older.
