I bought a six pack of these cans. It's not perfect, but the best craft lager I've encountered. But I can't find a trace of it here, or on the brewer's web site. Anyone have any insight into this stuff? Some super limited release I stumbled upon, or an early taste of a regular thing?

I've tried several pilsners and lagers and have a hard time finding craft versions to beat the imports. Bells Lager of the Lakes and Sierra Nevada Summerfest are the best I've found, but a Hofbräu Original or an Augustiner-Bräu is as good or better. Even a Pilsner Urquell holds its own.

The crafts seem to have a flavor note that's too dominant or just off. This one is just a bit too syrupy, but less off-putting than the hoppy or sour or lemon excesses I get in other stuff.

Any insight into getting more of this or something like it?

This thread discusses readily available mid-atlantic craft lagers....

The TTB COLA for the beer is dated 07/10/2019 - so, only last Wednesday. Sounds like you stumbled into an "early taste".

Looks like there was some vague mentions of the beer on their Facebook page previous to the COLA:

I just moved to Montgomery countg from Southern California so just exploring the brewery scene out here. Too much mediocre haze and Kettle sours pitches with chobani for my palate. I’ve been pretty impressed by Silver Branch’s lagers...glass house for continental style pils, gold line for that American/Midwest profile, and even their Kölsch for a lager adjacent. Elder Pines pils was also solid but maybe on the hoppier side but I like that. Thank for the link to the lager thread, will check it out.

Which Montgomery County? There is one in MD, PA, and NY (not to mention all the other states not in this sub-forum).

Oliver puts out some decent beer, but their marketing and social media is a mess. Hopefully they will get it together. I feel like the brand has some potential but the lack of updates and difficulty finding availability hurt them. I would suggest checking out Beermenues and Untappd to see where else is carrying the lager.

The one in Maryland; Silver Branch is located in Silver Springs, MD.

    Cheers!

Haha thanks for clearing up for me. Yeah Md, but glad you caught it off the brewery locations.

Just bought a sixer of this at The Bottle Shop in the Park Potomac shopping center behind the Harris Teeter. Pretty good lager.

I checked out the thread. I've had the Von Trappe pilsners and lagers and the Sixpoint Crisp and agree they're among the best, just can't get them here. Crisp used to be more available. I've always thought Prima Pils was too hoppy for what it's supposed to be and overrated accordingly, but maybe the new formula improves it for me.

I found a 1623 pilsner that's very good, maybe better than the Social. Seems super local at the moment, though. Also had a Fordham Gypsy. So hard to find a helles that I probably over-reviewed it, but at least there's nothing "off" about it, even though it's a little "meh," a bit heavy for a light style.
