My Dad turned 80 today. So, cheers to him. Best part, his wife and her kids, and I have been conspiring over the last few months. At his birthday party yesterday he was given an airplane ticket and told to get the hell out of dodge for a couple weeks. We don't have any concrete plans (except for going to the Lynden fair one day), so we may do a Seattle day. Or, wutevz (my friend Amber has already offered up to be driver for a day trip to Silvana meats and Skookum). If any of y'all will be heading up to the City of Subdued Excitement during that time frame, I'd be happy to introduce you to the old coot (he is actually the nice version of me), and if we roll down, I'll give a shout-out. Cheers y'all!
Be careful what you say about "old coots". Nice version of you? This world can't handle two Teddy bears. To keep this beer centric, does he like beer? Oh, and Happy Birthday to your dad.
He loves beer (I've dragged him to many breweries, coast-to-coast), but he has developed some sort of gluten intolerance. HOWEVER!, there is much cider about, and if we choose his spirits wisely (Black Velvet and Ginger Ale has always been his go-to dranky)......
Cheers and Happy Birthday to your Dad! My Dad turns 80 at the end of this week, and my Mom's 80th birthday was in June, so we split the difference and celebrated both their birthdays in Albuquerque last month with a bit of a family reunion. Good times all around. One afternoon I took Dad to the new Ex Novo taproom out there. It was maybe a 10-minute drive from his house. He really doesn't drink much, but I was thrilled to hang out with him for a while, just the two of us.
Cheers & Happy Birthday to yr Dad, Terry! I'll lift one to him either tonight in Olympia (leaving for there in approximately 45 minutes) or tomorrow night ish on the Big Island.
So, as of this moment, the plan is this: his plane is "scheduled" to land about 12:30 Sunday. A friend and I are going to pick him up, and, if he's hungry (and since one doesn't get fed in coach any more, I suspect he'll be ready for some lunch) we're planning on hitting Ghostfish, since they are all Gluten-free. I suspect prolly 1:15-1:30ish. Will update.
Looks like his flight was a wee bit delayed getting out of ORD, so ETA to Ghostfish is now more in the 1:30-2:00 timeframe. Headed out in about a half hour.
