A tiny little part of me wants to keep this secret all to myself but, I had a karmic awakening this morning.

Buster's has a keg of Boogoop just tapped this morning (and likely dried up by this evening).

    Cheers!

On March 12 Lucid Brewing's Air & Camo will be on tap at 3 Squares. On Happy Hour prices even.

You guys are welcome! I had a lot of time on my hands with kids sick at home. So, I figured I would help the community out!

I got this email from Bricks Pub in Blaine yesterday. For anyone in the north suburbs a pretty good beer to consider.

"Hey Everyone! I have some exciting news for you...We just received a shipment of Founder's Double Trouble for the first time ever to be on tap! We have the only barrels in the area! This beer is amazing if you have never had it before! I know that I can't wait to try it on tap. Please stay tuned for the release date...I am anticipating it to be Tuesday, March 6th @ 5pm!"

3 Squares in Maple Grove has Lagunitias WTF on Cask, not on happy hour prices. Tasty.

Cafe twenty eight is now closed. I checked the Hanger Room's list and they have not updated it for a while; they used to update it regularly. If anyone knows of other bars in the area that keep a tap list somewhat current online, please post it here.

    Groveland Tap
Note: I count a dozen or so "local" (metro-area) establishments with more than two dozen taps; that's a whole lot of updatin' goin on!

As much as we would all love updated tap lists online, I just don't think it is possible for places like this who get maybe one keg of each beer and are always changing out their tap lines. I am sure some of these keep them "pretty" well updated, but they should always be taken with caution.

it would probably take 60 seconds to update a tap list. it's entirely possible.

There are a few on the list that have an indicator as to when the list was updated. Every one of them does have a phone number, though. There is always a way to find out what is on tap without going there. If too many people call, they might start updating more often. If they are fine with the volume of calls, then it might stay the same. Either way, it is nice to try to figure out what is on tap before going out for a beer (if unsure of where to go).

Probably, but in the middle of a busy rush would you want a staff member to go and make that change? Usually the chalkboard doesn't even get changed. The problem is if you tell people the list is always updated online, then something blows in the middle of your dinner rush, what is your strategy when a customer gets pissed because they drove accross town since you had it (online)?

I just think it is easier to leave tap lists off the website, and I for one never count on them when I am heading out to the bar. If I really want something, I'll pick up a phone.

I don't think anyone's expecting a bar to update their list mid-rush or even multiple times a day. Once a day is ample and I don't think someone would get too upset if they were expecting a bar to have something (ie, making a special trip in hopes of trying a particular beer) and it blew that day.

It'd also be a lot easier to take the few minutes to update a list first thing each day than to answer 10 calls for 'what do you have on tap today?'.

Maybe people who actually work at beer bars can give us a better answer...Tim?
