    I thought budweiser did?

Seriously though, I'd have to say DFH 120 IPA, it's a great tasting IPA with a punch to the face... or any other body part you'd like to get hit in!

Why is Heady Topper a bad choice?

The OP asked what beer from the US would you enter into a world beer contest, not what beer is representative of the US.

The OP asked a question far different then the title of the thread. So you can see why people don't answer it the way it was asked. I dont think its a bad answer, I just absolutely adore the comparison that was made to the "American dream"

When did this whole 'Merica thing take off anyway? I thought it started as a way to make fun of the jingoistic BS that Fox News conflates with patriotism, and now people are using it in earnest.

I'd go with Anchor Steam just for historical reasons. Or if we're going with puns based on the name, something by 21st Amendment.

For a beer to enter in a world beer contest, I don't know. Judges from the biggest beer countries would probably automatically dislike it for not being 'Traditional' enough. So we probably should go with something ridiculously hoppy just to mess with them.

Many decisions by our government and morality of our citizens scare the heck out of me, however, my blessed life would not be protected in many other countries in the world. I become very frustrated with people talking how horrible this country is, but have no idea how horrible it is in many other places in the world. Some people making rambling statements about how horrible this country is are the people who do not stand for the national anthem, and complain how wakeful law enforcement is.

? So we shouldn't voice our opinions and try to correct the obvious flaws of our system because there are countries with less freedoms than ours? That is a very counter productive way of thinking. I think it's every Americans obligation to keep it's government and citizens in check in order to maintain the great country that WE created. Pretending everything is okay is not the answer

I'm thinking this discussion is heading in the direction of improper venue. Back to beer.

For all the criticisms I may have of American government, every other country is much worse.

True patriotism includes vigilance that our country always lives up to its ideals.

Boo Jingoism. Boo Nationalism. Horray Patriotism!

American beer is awesome. And some of it has excessive hops.

    Samuel Adams Boston Lager.

It's patriotic, is super popular and available almost everywhere, was one of the first and most popular beers of the craft beer movement, and is, (in my opinion) a genuinely good beer.

BCBS. Aging beers in bourbon, an American whiskey, is as American as it gets, and it's a great beer.
The other choice would be a double IPA, probably Heady at this point in time. Either of these beers are representative of the best of American brewing, which is what the OP asked for, not the most typical.
