I would nominate a Hill Farmstead beer. Which Hill Farmstead to select would be tricky; maybe I would recommend Edward? No, maybe Double Citra? Or perhaps Abner? No, .....

    Cheers!

F-That, Bud lost their crown(if you wanna call it that) when they sold out to a conglomerate NOT based on 'Merican soil. Game Over for ButtWiper...

Dales baby. Dales Pale Ale not only sports the colors, but also is the perfect taste for a 4th of july celebration.

Combine equal parts Heady Topper and SNPA with the tears of a thousand eagles and can it inside a firework shaped like a baseball that explodes into the American flag while the star spangled banner plays and Ben Franklin makes witty puns about football.

And when you open the can it sounds like a rifle being fired over the Rocky Mountains at sunrise and also updates your Facebook status with "USA! USA!" until the character limit is reached.

I'll take the easy way out----BMC

Budweiser and Miller High Life in the midwest and east coast. Coors on the west coast .

I think it's gets excluded on technicality, since its a German lager and I wouldn't put any American lager up against a German in a Best Beer in the World contest :stuck_out_tongue:

This made me think. We were going to go back to and travel from a few bars and restaurants we visited of the years( decades ) and tell our bartender, " I'll have a beer" and see what beer we would be served. Would there be interest doing this? Just going into a bar and drinking what beer the bartender serves.

I agree with you that, in peak shape, the best German lagers are largely better than the best American lagers. That said, in most styles, I'd take a fresh offering from Pennsylvania over the German stuff that we usually get months after its been bottled. Weihenstephaner Original is a better Helles than Stoudt's Gold. However, two-week old Stoudt's Gold is better than five-month old Weihenstephaner Original.

Doppelbocks are something of an exception, as they hold up much better with age. I'm not going to pretend that I'd reach for Troeganator over Celebrator or Andechs.

I love and appreciate a Boston and a Brooklyn Lager as much as anybody, and don't necessarily disagree with your viewpoint (my pick isn't the most universally appealing style by any means). I just think it is the most unique beer I have had, and would stand out where many others (Great Lakes Oktoberfest, SNPA) would get lost in the mix.

Another lager style that I think the US craft breweries would win against German/European breweries: Vienna Lager.

    Cheers!

This beer is the only one that came to mind. It's flavor and quality are without rival. Quality craft beers come and go, but this one has remained a constant.

I think sam adams boston lager. Slightly classier than bud, but ubiquitous nonetheless.

Another beer category that I think would be interesting to compete US craft brewed beers vs. German brewed versions is Gose.

The recent release of Sixpoint Gose (Sixpoint Gose 2.0) is a high quality Gose beer.

    Cheers to Sixpoint (@Sixpoint)!

American politics are bought and sold by massive corporate conglomerates all the time. Seems doubly appropriate to me.

    +1 for Bud.
