One day in Amsterdam

Thalys doesn't require check-in. You just need a ticket and a seat reservation for a particular train and you can board. With Thalys, the earlier you buy the ticket and reservation, the cheaper it is (just like with easyjet or ryanair).

 

and now there is a special action, one can travel from any station in the Netherlands to any station in Belgium for only 19 euro (38 for return ticket). However, this is with the regular international train, not the Thalys.
