    Hey y'all,

I stay in the Raleigh area, but need to make a trip to Charlotte for an appointment. I'd like to pick up something (or a few somethings) from the places that don't distribute outside of the Charlotte area. The day will be this weekend coming (Sept 1st), as long as the appointment holds (it depends on weather). What should I get?

    Thanks,

    Lando

Many of our breweries don't even bottle let alone distribute, so growlers are your only option. I'd check out Olde Mecklenburg, NoDa and Birdsong (they're right beside each other) or the newly opened Triple C Brewing for some growlers.

Olde Mecklenburg does send bombers to some of our local beer stores. Their Mecktoberfest is released tomorrow, so maybe you can find that around town also.

I have a growler of Coco Loco on my list to get, looks like birdsong is next door, any recommendations? After that, it looks to be about 2 miles south to Olde Mecklinburg to grab a growler fill of Mecktoberfest. Good thing my wife loves me. Do you really really want a growler? I may not know you, but I am a decent guy, we can work something out.

    tha
that angst was directed and handle who knows my overt frustrationt with not getting Mecktoberfest. Ive had one from Birdsong and it wasnt memorable. For non locals, i would recommend Taco Mac. I see people checking in to rediculous shit from there.

I'll be in Winston Salem visiting a friend who works in Greensboro Sunday; I could drop it with him. Ya'll know each other on Twitter and could coordinate.

Um, cool about that, but if you actually want some THIS TIME  let me know. The mini van can spare the space one extra growler takes up. I think everything I hear about with birdsong makes me thing it isn't worth the cost to get a growler, every town has their average breweries, so it's all good.

Ah...not too much to be missed there...once I chased those, until I realized that every BAIS was at best slightly better than Dragon's Milk and far more expensive.

Ah, we chase different beers then. I do like a nice easy to get Dragon's Milk though.

Most of Birdsong's beers are pretty solid. I'm a big fan of their Jalapeno Pale Ale. It doesn't have much heat at all, but it has a nice jalapeno flavor. Their Higher Ground IPA is decent, too.

I would just sample a few things from them before making the plunge for a growler. Their jalapeno pale ale is tasty and you could really end up wanting an entire jug full. or you could decide maybe not this time. but definitely give them a chance.
