Hello. I’m traveling here in September and know nothing about the city. Flight gets in at 11am and am going to Brewers game at 7pm it’s a Friday how should I fill my time? Looking for beer and non beer recommendations (must have food dishes) and what area to get a hotel etc. any help would be appreciated.

give the people a hint of what style of beer and food your craving.
    butter burgers?
Lakefront, maybe the new central waters location if there open by then.

I would recommend Indeed's brewpub there.

Thanks for tips so far. I’m not picky just prefer place that does whatever well. I like wide variety of styles so Eagle Park looks good just need figure location. Places where you walk to several breweries would be cool. I forgot butter burgers are a thing saw on tv at some point. Seems like I’ll need to try that even though seems a little scary. Any brewpub do a good one? Or burger place with beer selection. What other foods Brats? I have 2 meals to get local flavor. I also want to check out lake front in some regard. Seems there is free shuttle to ball game so will try and factor that in

We did a Brewers night game in 2019 and, in 24 hours, did Eagle Park twice. That good. Food was also great.

Lakefront? Go to art museum. Beautiful. Museum itself great but there’s a scenic walkway you’d like. Won’t be disappointed.

Third Space Brewing had good beer with a cool space.

City Lights also a cool space w good beer & a Brewers shuttle.

I was also excited to get Modern Times, Drekker & New Glarus at liquor stores.

You could theoretically walk between Eagle Park and Lakefront. Bit of a haul but not terribly far apart. There are also escooters laying all over the place around town so if you do any of those apps (like Lime for example) that's also a quick way to hop around from one place to another fairly quickly. If you headed west from Lakefront brewery you could also hit Dead Bird Brewing which I have not tried. Everything else is pretty spread out until you get south of Downtown. If Uber is doable or you will have a car I'd recommend Third Space and 1840. Please note that Lakefront Brewery is not located at the actual lakefront, so that would be a separate outing if you are interested in seeing the actual lake front which is beautiful.

Butter burgers are only terrifying the next morning.

I will third (or fourth?) Eagle Park. Wide variety of styles, great food, good location.

You could also try tailgating at the stadium, or latching on to someone else’s tailgate if you bring food and beer to share.

For dessert, it's hard to beat https://purpledooricecream.com/ Its the type of ice cream you enjoy eating even in the middle of January. In Milwaukee. When the snow is up to your waist.

As to places to stay, there's quite a few downtown. This is a bit outside of downtown, but the Radisson, in Wauwatosa, tends to have good rates. And free parking, unlike downtown.

For breakfast, it's almost impossible to beat Blue's Egg, https://bluesegg.com/menus/ And Mad Rooster, https://www.madroostercafe.com/ Both of them fill up fast, especially Blue's Egg. So get there early!

The Aloft hotel near the Bucks stadium is a nice hotel. it's close to Eagle Park too.

Drunk Uncle is a good beer bar in West Allis and close to Miller Park. I would also recommend hanging out near the market. Cafe Benelux is really nice, great bloody Marys. Lots to do in this area.

Fish fry's on Friday nights are what you should be looking for....not sure which but I've heard good things on Lakefront.

As a side-note you cannot find better frozen custard than here...

Eagle Park is awesome, but keep in mind that the downtown Milwaukee location does not open until 3pm on Friday, while the larger & newer location in Muskego opens at 11am. Of course, Muskego is a bit out of the way if you trying to end up at the ballgame, so here are a few places to go until Eagle Park opens at 3pm:
-Straight west from the airport is the Brass Tap in Greenville - a big and terrific tap list, and good food too: https://www.brasstapbeerbar.com/greenfield
-If you want to shop to bring beer home, Total Wine & More is close to Brass Tap, then start heading back to downtown with a stop at Discount Liquor.
-Third Space brewing is on the way, but they do not open until 2pm, but Mobcraft is open at noon.
-Lakefront is close to Eagle Park and does open at 11am.
You cannot go wrong with whatever you do - it is all good. Have fun!

korbel brandy old fashioned, it's a Wisconsin thing.
I have had fish fry at Lakefront a few times, but that was 3 to 5 years ago. It was good, but not the best. I don't know if the have friday polka music there any more???? note the tartar sauce is for the fries not the fish. Melted high grade butter is for dipping the fish in.

Kopp’s is an institution, best burgers and custard in MKE imo, a few locations so might be able to easily work it in to your itinerary depending on what you end up doing.

But who has the best Friday night fish fry in Milwaukee and the close by area?
I surely don't know, it would be hard to try them all, it might take a year or two or maybe 3 or 4.
Plenty of website sites on the net about this.
I miss the all you can eat fish fry. covid help end that. But a few places still have it.
Brass Tap has blue gill fish fry, that is not as common as it used to be.

There are 2 types of people in this city: Kopp's people and Leon's people. I'm a proud Kopp's guy myself (those burgers...), but as others have said you can't go wrong with either. Get custard from both, do a side by side.
