I definitely would not consider Ballast Point a one hit wonder brewery, but here's my list of breweries who make only one beer that I find great:

The most obvious might be Pabst Ballentine IPA

    Others:
    Anchor Steam
    Harpoon Rye IPA
    Heavy Seas Yuletide
    Penn St. Nicholas Bock
    Starr Hill Reviver Red
    Two Brothers Atom Smasher

On the mark, though there are still a lot of offerings from them I haven't tasted. I believe Reviver was their first major release with their new head brewer, so that made me hopeful. But their rework of Northern Lights IPA is quite average, Boxcar Pumpkin Porter is still bland with a dirty/earthy note too dominant...

This actually fits for a lot of the newer CO breweries. It might even be an effective strategy as most don't seem to be hurting for business.

Euchre from Arbor brewing fits into this category. I was astonished by how well they made that Pils, but everything else I have had from them has been "meh" at best.

I believe a wise brewer once said..."Tis better to make one great beer than to make none at all!"

Oh, and I have no issue with any Ballast Point brews I've had.

You're not a fan of Anchor Porter? That beer was a standard-setter for the style, and it remains one of the best examples to date, IMHO.

Also, I've really enjoyed their limited offerings of late, with Flying Cloud at the top of the list. So, if you do find Anchor Porter to be lackluster, definitely give the Flying Cloud Stout a try. Many of the same characteristics of Porter, but "bigger."

I can not like this response enough. Dorado is such a great DIPA, old school Earthy/Resin Bomb!

It's worth seeking out, it's killer. It's as good as an imperial porter as Sculpin is to IPA. Have you had Grapefruit Sculpin?

Big Eye was a big disappointment, and Habanero Sculpin was almost a drain poor.

When you had Big Eye, how fresh was it? Big Eye (When Fresh) is a Centennial Bomb! I'm not your tastebuds but I enjoy Big Eye versus Sculpin. The only issue is the travel from CA to the East Coast (plus it's little vaca in the distribution warehouse) on tap though Big Eye is easily one of my favorite IPAs.

Never had Big Eye on tap, and the bottle I had was 6 weeks old. Could there be a difference if I had a 2 week old bottle?? Their regular Sculpin I've had at 8 weeks old and 12 weeks old, and it was still a kick ass IPA. I'd LOVE to have fresh Sculpin on tap. That would be amazing.

Not really. You will see more of their other beers soon when their expansion gets up and running.

I'm with you on this regarding the stouts but choklat is a nice dessert beer. 2xipa is pretty decent too.

Sculpin is one of those "Weird" brews on tap (For me). I've had it twice on tap and each time it's been a different beer (Food might have played a role). When I first had Sculpin (on Tap) it had a Tropical/Floral Vibe. The last time I had it on tap it was a Floral bomb. It might be me or the beer, I say try to find it on tap and gravitate to it for best results. Oh I don't like Grapefruit Sculpin either (Same reasons as your OP).
