For people familiar with the city and its breweries, if you had one evening in Bellingham and only had time for one brewery to visit which would you go to and which beer do you get?

Probably Wander. I was there several weeks ago and had 3 beers I think. Enjoyed every one of them. Truly a great brewery with excellent staff too.

Haven't been up there for a while, but can't go wrong with Chuckanut or Boundary Bay in my eyes. I've liked most things I've had from Wander and hoping to get up there sometime this summer.

One brewery only? Probably Chuckanut. Will Kemper's emphasis on German styles is something that I don't get to experience often. And I like his British IPA.

Checkout the Bellingham Tap Trail website. Get an idea for the breweries we've got on the Tap Trail!

Have you been to Boundary Bay or any others yet? If you have never been to BB, that would be my suggestion. Otherwise, Wander.

I should have included that. Yes, Boundary Bay is the one brewery that I have visited and had any beer from. It's looking like I should definitely consider Wander!

I'm located here in Hamsterham. Out of curiosity, what's your definition of "one night"? Most of the breweries are located within a few minutes walk of each other (Kulshan is the outlier, but certainly worth hitting). If you've got 4ish hours you can easily hit several.

For example: Start at Boundary, 10 minute walk takes you to Chuckanut. 10 minute walk from there takes you to Wander. Sub-5 minute walk from there takes you to The Local, a bar operated by the guys who own Menace Brewing, and the only consistent place to get Menace brews. 5 minutes from The Local takes you to Aslan. Aslan is just up the block from the Food Coop, with a decent bottle selection, which is only 3 blocks back to BB where we started.

If you're in for an afternoon/evening, catching a bus up to Kulshan lets you work that in. Also The Local, The Copper Hog, Das Schweinhaus, The Up & Up, and The Green Frog all have quality taplists, and are all within this same loop.

Let me know when you're headed into town, and I'll be happy to show you around, and buy you a couple pints. To actually answer your OP, if I only had time to hit one, right now it'd be Wander, with BB a close second. Cheers!

@RenzoD and @distantmantra, I didn't want to have to confront you guys but there is an elephant in the room and you two need to work out this situation. Have a steel cage death match, arm wrestling contest, drinking battle; I don't care how you do it. Just sort this shit out.

@beertunes, rightfully called out. Baby in one hand, typing in the other. Poor execution on my part. Appreciate the assist. ;-)

It mainly has to do with a couple facts
    1) I'll be passing through shortly with my wife and I know she is not going to be totally down with spending our time there doing a pub crawl haha.
    2) I'm really a light weight. I can handle a couple beers and I am good to go. Plus I really just want to boil it down to the best option I could have in a short period of time.

I just had a thought that I suppose I could pack my growler, sit down and have a beer somewhere and visit the runner up and take some of their stuff home.

Well, the other good thing is, with where the breweries are located, you get to walk around downtown, which gives you the chance to pop into shops, galleries, and stuff like that. I personally consider Mallard Ice Cream a must hit stop here in town. The quicky version would be this: Boundary Bay and Wander are fundamentally on opposite ends of Railroad Ave. Park at one, walk to the other and back, about a 15 minute stroll. That will give you a couple breweries, and a nice walk through downtown, including an ice cream stop. Let me know when you're coming into town, and I'll be happy to show you around.

Oh nice, blame it on the baby. Some new Dad. Surprised you didn't add restocking the Peabody Library to your list.

Thanks for the pub crawl list @beertunes.
I'm up that way visiting my parents fairly often. Been to BB and Cnut many times but haven't checked out Wander or Aslan yet.
Forget the Portland pub crawl, I will hit Bham next with the wifey.
Not to mention I will have something to do next time I drop her off at the Chrysalis for a spa day.

    I got this.

There are probably some cute antique, artisan, whatever stores in the area. Roll them into your pub crawl. You might actually have to go inside one or two of them but towards the end you can just stand outside. Don't get mad if she actually buys something.

If that doesn't work. There is a huge outlet mall on the way up just outside Arlington. Pre or Post pub crawl. Whatever you do, don't go in the Burberry store.

Yin and Yang. It's all about balance.

Same offer applies. Shoot me a message, and we'll get together for a brew.
