I'm going to a training for work at OSU in a couple weeks and will have Monday night to spend doing whatever I'd like. I'm staying about a mile from Block 15 and will definitely be hitting them up, is there anything else I should check out?
Right by Flat Tail is also the new Sky High Brewing & Pub. Additionally next door to Block 15 is a great beer bar/restaurant named Les Caves.
go to Block 15 for lunch, swing by Corvallis brewing supply to see if they have anything tasty on the shelves, then go to Le Caves for dinner.
Bummer that you're here on a Monday as we are closed at Caves Mondays and Tuesdays. Block 15, and Flat Tail are the must stops and Corvallis Brewing Supply's bottle selection is worth a peak since you're from WA. Suds and Suds, attached to Woodstocks pizza, has 34 rotating taps that are usually solid, Squirrels is our true pub pub at around 40yrs old with good food and beer, and Crow Bar and Downward Dog are the industry go to spots if your looking for beers and drinks after Block closes at 11. Future tip advice for those visiting Corvallis: all of our best restaurants are closed on Mondays as well as a few of the cooler beer spots.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm coming in Monday late afternoon, and the conference is all day Tuesday.
Just got home to Seattle from a road trip to Corvalis for a Positive Behavior Support conference at OSU earlier today. Stopped at Cascade on the way down and had a glass of Noyaux, went to Block 15 for dinner and had a glass of Demon's Farm, which seriously blew my mind. Picked up a bottle to bring home. Also went to Flat Tail and had their Cool Hand Cuke cucumber Berliner Weisse. On the way back home, we stopped in Portland again and went to HotD for some Bourbon Fred from the Wood. Yum.
Nice, sounds like an awesome trip! And yes, Demon's Farm is nuts. The first sip I had I wasn't even sure what I was drinking. Block 15 is quickly becoming my favorite Oregon brewery.
For real. I couldn't believe just how awesome Demon's Farm was. I was with coworkers who don't know much about beer outside of IPAs, so their reaction to trying it was worth the price of admission. They only had bottles of Demon's Farm and Ferme De La' Ville Provision for sale, so I picked up one of each.
Flat Tail is awful. Had a sample of everything. Poor. Block15 was crowded so didnt get a chance to try their beers but everything else in Corvo was below par. A-
Not sure if serious or trying to keep hype down. If the former, I don't understand the world you live in. F - Double Bogey D - Bogey C - Par B - Birdie A - Eagle AmIRight?
Flat Tail had a weak sampler. I never tried block15. No hype for Corvallis. Try it yourself. Save the time an just go to pdx A-
Dude, you are one confusing person. Are you signing your posts "A-"? As in, your first name begins with an "A" and you feel the need to stamp your signature at the end of each post? Or are you continuing to state the subpar beer out of Flat Tail as a rating of "A-"? If so, you might want to adjust your rating scale. Subpar would probably be a bit lower.... like a D. And no offense, but seriously dumb move not hitting Block 15. You really missed out. Block 15 is hands down some of the better beer in the Northwest. Corvallis has more to offer than meets the eye. We wouldn't have certain hop varieties without the OSU breeding program....
