Which breweries allow dogs? Ill have my golden retriever in tow. I know veil doesnt (I assume they mean inside in which case I would just tie him up outside) but was wondering about The Answer, Triple Crossing, Ardent, Strangeways and Final Gravity. Trying to make it to 5 (free T shirt!) and I know Im definitely going to Veil, Answer and TC so out of the last three which two would you pick? TIA

Of those you mentioned, The Answer does not have an outdoor space so they likely do not. The others do have outdoor seating so you should be fine. If you are going solo then you'll just need to leave your pet outside while you grab beer or have someone watch him. The Veil does have a good number of outdoor seats and patio furniture in their parking lot so that's not an issue.

RVA Beer Trail hats (trucker style) just started arriving at breweries too within the past week so some of them may have both. You can choose which one you want.

Of the last three I would most definitely go Final Gravity and then likely Ardent

Thanks, exactly what I needed to know. My girlfriend is coming with them too. I can leave him at the airbnb but would prefer for him to come along haha.

    Looking forward to it.

Does the Answer fill growlers that are not theirs. I saw that they do can 1/2 growlers but wondering about full 64 oz growlers.

Yes, but they have to be flip top, not screw on.

@howopeeps They also do Crowlers of their own beers. If you have Untappd they are a Verified Venue and show pricing of their pours as well as beers (both theirs and guest taps) they offer 32oz and 64oz fills of.

Non beer related. Any good coffee shops to get a good cup and grab some fresh beans.

Is there any reason to swing by Stone?

Not any beer-related reason. The only reason to go would be to see the facility. Its pretty low on my list.

Good to know. That's what it seemed like after a quick search.

I have heard they'll put on some vintage stuff if you're into aged batches. That would be the biggest thing I could think of. I'd consider it if you were at Triple Crossing's Fulton spot, the facility is impressive. But taproom and taplist isn't crazy. I'm curious how it'll be when they have the bistro though, I think that will be a bigger draw.

Blanchard's, Lamplighter, Black Hand. My preference for coffee in the city is Blanchards, but they don't have a spot to drink, while the other two do. You could always check out Early Bird Biscuit company, which has their own signature blend made by Blanchards. Drink and eat there, and a grab a bag to go.

Maybe just to see the sheer size of the place but as far as beer goes much of what they have you can find on shelves. They may have a few things limited to them but nothing mind blowing. If you are going by Triple Crossing's new location in Fulton it's basically right next door so if you have time why not. There's more options

I figured we'd just eat at The Answer. Is there a better option there? Also, I know we are doing The Veil and The Answer. Is it better to do Hardywood or Triple Crossing?

You could also walk around to the front of the building at The Answer and check out Mekong. Outstanding Vietnamese food. If you like Pho then it will be a winner. Same owners as Mekong and they have a complete different tap list. between both places that's nearly 100 taps. Different Andalls will be at both places but Mekong does not serve The Answer beers.

Both HW and Triple Crossing are good but I personally enjoy Triple Crossing because their IPA game is so strong.

This. Unless Hardywood has something special on tap like Trickery etc. (not anytime soon) I'd do Triple Crossing. The newest Berliner is killer in addition to the IPAs currently on.

I've honestly been disappointed in the food at Mekong more often than not. I still go there almost every time I'm in Richmond, but I think there are better places to eat (there's an Arby's nearby).

For a few dollars more than a gross fast food combo you can get a bahn mi or pho at The Answer, so imo just go with your original plan.
And agree with above, unless you have something in particular in mind at Hardywood, Triple Crossing is great.

Mekong's food is much better than Answer food, but even then, their Pho isn't the best in the city. That said, if you're going to Veil, there are better places to eat in Scott's Addition such as Lunch/Supper, Fat Dragon, Peter Chang's. Or if you're going to Triple Crossing Downtown, options such as Saison, Comfort. For Triple Crossing Fulton, you have Roosevelt, Metzger, Dutch and Company all close by as well. If you're looking for a better than average place to eat, then those are some good options. If you don't care all that much, I'd take Mekong over Answer if you'll be at both places anyway.

Can anyone give me whiskey bar recommendations? I'll be down next weekend. I plan on hitting the breweries and would like a place with a big whiskey menu to end my night
