For Michigan, I would leave Short's off the "world class" list, but I would most certainly add Kuhnhenn to it (minus their spotty disto in NYC).

    Cheers!

Might have it in SC or FL close to the borders, but basically found in GA.

Kane and Carton make incredible beers only here in NJ.

Rushing Duck makes some great beers only in NY.

Shorts regular distribution is Michigan. They do send beer to conventions and festivals, and probably ship a pallet of beer to the local distributor that they work with on the festival license. They do tap takeovers and such around those events too. That is why you may see it, sometimes.

While visiting Ohio I had a chance to try some of Elevator Brewings beers. They were great!

Definitely Kuhnhenn minus NYC. Agreed about Short's and would include Odd Side Ales in that list of "not world class" but pretty damn good.

Olde Mecklenburg in NC. (Although straddling the border as the do in Charlotte, beer does make it into SC.)

OEC Brewing in CT, NEBCO in CT, Treehouse in MA, Peekskill in NY, Plan Bee in NY, La Cumbre in NM, Casa Agria in CA, The Rare Barrel in CA, Cellarmaker in CA, SARA in CA, Casey in CO, Side Project in MO, Lone Pint in TX, COAST in SC, Funk Factory in WI. Some of these May not actually answer the question since they don't distribute at all.

Brewery is being finished on Shrewsbury St. I believe there is going to be a good sized tasting room...

Jackie O's was just discussed among my local beer friends -- a few of them do get sold in N. Ky stores, so they're out.

Not the good fruited sours. You have to go to the brewery for those. They don't distribute the good stuff.

Maybe for a special occasion or a certaing event, but

"Today Short’s Brewing Company continues its efforts to make the best beer on earth in Northern Michigan. Although we have quickly grown to be one of Michigan’s largest breweries, we still take pride in our hands-on, mom-and-pop approach and the energy we put into the quality of our beer, food, staff, customers and facilities. We still brew our beer the same way we always have and we always will. We believe in “the power of the smallness,” and intend on remaining a Michigan-only brewery. Our goal is to get to a comfortable production volume, love what we do and enjoy life in Northern Michigan."

I've had Boneyard on tap here in CO.
I've also seen Ale Apoth on shelves.
I've bought Pipeworks bottles here too.

We're getting to the point where pretty much every state has at least 1 or 2 in-state (and sometimes self-distributing) breweries that are making really, really good beer.

    Wisconsin:
New Glarus (almost not fair- they've got the r&d budget of a big boy)
    Black Husky
    Karben4
    Lazy Monk
Funk Factory Geuezeria promises to be very good as well

Yeah, I dig the hell out of some Odd Side.

In NC, as far as BBA stouts go, Olde Hickory is top-notch. The rest of their beers are good, but not world-class. NoDa, as many of you know, makes the "best IPA in the world" (apparently that's how some people perceive winning the World Beer Cup in the IPA category) so you could say they're world class for IPAs but not the rest of their beers. Wicked Weed? World-class across the board? Verdict's still out on that one but they're certainly a top contender here. This time next year, though, we may be talking about Haw River qualifying for this thread.
