So this Saturday I'll be passing through Peekskill and will have time for a meal and a couple beers. Quick show of hands - Peekskill Brewery or Birdsall house? Both look great and have excellent reputations... so I'm basically paralyzed by indecision. Plus, I'm over tired and feel like outsourcing my decisions to you people.

Ha - I almost added a post script noting that I'm starting with one vote in the Peekskill Brewery column from cavedave. To be fair, having hada bunch of their beers at NYC bars, it's easy to see why you recommend the place so much. I'm leaning towards making that my stop.

Add me to the Cavedave column. Never been to Birdsall, but can't see how anyone could go to the town of Peekskill for craft beer and NOT go to the brewery ! Would be like going to Santa Rosa and not going to Russian River.

You should. Birdsall has better food, but that pales in comparison to the quality of beer being produced at the brewery. Plus the beers they have on right now are amazing; Higher Standard, Flavor Saver, and the recently released Awesome Sauce (Brett IPA) should make your decision very simple.

Under indulging yourself is very un-American.

Sounds like Peekskill wins in a landslide...

...and if I have enough time, I'll definitely indulge my American side over at Birdsall afterwards.

Both. I usually eat at Birdsall House then head over for beers at Peekskill. They're very close to one another.

Well, fortunately we were able to make time to do both. Went to birdsall first for food and a beer, then over to peekskill brewery for more beers and a bit more food.

Overall impression - peekskill beers are, of course, delicious. And the pub itself is a great spot, very comfortable with a great crowd and fantastic service at both the bar and tables. However, birdsall food is much, much better. In the future it's definitely ready a full meal at birdsall and keep to the beer menu at peekskill.

Regardless, both places were fun, more-than-worthwhile visits, and peekskill was a fun small town to hang out in.
