Just curious if anyone has ordered any beer from Cascade this month? Has your beer froze during shipment? I am thinking of ordering beer from there to Raleigh, NC and am just looking for advice.

I'm pretty sure they will take your order now, but not ship until the weather is good. I was just at the Barrel House this past weekend and that was the conversation I had with the bartender, but instead of shipping I just decided to take advantage of Southwests two free checked bags.

I just got a shipment from them yesterday and all was fine.

    I got a shipment notification 2 days ago #midwestpolarvortex

Edit: they did hold our [several BA folks] shipments being sent to the western NY area last year and then sent our boxes out sporadically (as in a month between some of us receiving our boxes despite ordering @ roughly the same time)

They distribute here it's usually on the shelf all the time, why on line? I'm not a Sour guy and their stuff is kinda pricy.

Mostly after the Bourbonic Plauge and another bottle or two of Vlad which I really enjoyed. Glad to hear this!

They don't distribute BP to North Carolina or Vlad. Even the regular fruited sours are very hit or miss here in Charlotte and they don't sit on shelves very long. Last year we got Blueberry but I've never seen Strawberry or Figaro here. Price works out about the same if you order online compared to shelf price here anyways.

Sours are generally pretty expensive, I would agree that cascade is a tad pricey tho.

What I saw here was the Apricot, Kriek, and Blueberry when it's available.

Thats true. And we have also seen the Vine once or twice in Raleigh. Never Strawberry, Figaro, BP or Vlad as Quickicks stated

It depends on where you live.

My wife ordered some Sang Noir for me for a Christmas gift in mid-December. They held the shipment until after Xmas because of the freezing temperatures that were gripping the Northwest (really, the entire country) at the time. If the weather is freezing in the Northwest, they will not ship.

If you're in North Carolina, then I'd check the weather here (www.weather.gov) to see if you're expecting a cold snap in the next 10 days. If not, then I'd go ahead and order. Note that here in Denver, we're going through an abnormally warm trend over the next week so it might be a great time to order.

The weather in NC is fine. I was mostly concerned about the beer traveling through other state. It's going to be 60 degrees during some points next week...

    Use this tool then: http://www.weather.com/travel/trip-planner

You type in the Departure point, when the departure will take place, stops along the way, and arrival point, and it will give you the weather along the route. Easy peasy.

Threads like this make me sad that Minnesota has such arcane liquor laws. Cascade can't ship to me any time of the year.

From personal experience, packages going from OR to NC usually spend a night in Chicago and it's COLD!!! there. Don't know if Cascade takes that into account, but I'd be more concerned with the weather there than in NC.

Also seen a couple packages spend a night in TX on the way to NC.
