Interesting link. Thanks for putting that up!

I did, in fact, read the article. I find it no less silly. If you don't have any idea how something is made, why should you have input on it? That said, it is cool that they shared the recipe, which, from the looks of it, seems to be a pretty good one.

What makes you think that someone who has little or no knowledge of brewing would even read that, understand it, and then be motivated to say something that makes any meaningful contribution that plays by the “rules?”

Have you ever used Twitter? If so, you'd know that people don't have to know what they're talking about to "contribute".

And if Twitter is used in the first place those "contributions" are easily ignored by those who know enough and are focused on solving a problem. Much as some of the reviews on here can be ignored.

(Not everybody believes all they see online just because it is online.)

Edit: How many contributions have you made to the development of Firefox and/or Wikipedia?

This, I think, is a decent idea. You're not choosing all the ingredients in the recipe, just which spices and/or what type of barrel the base beer goes into.

But that's my point. They used Twitter for this project. What kind of knowledge base were they expecting?

A synergy between beer and the internet...what could go wrong?

    To repeat my edit above--

How many contributions have you made to Firefox development or Wikipedia entries? You can do that you know, just as easily as use Twitter.

If a tweet doesn't make a contribution you ignore it or don't use it.
