And then imagine a lot of it just sitting there. Forever.

I like the locals but as far as regular purchases, I usually stick to Half Acre and Revolution. I'm just kind of over $8-12 bombers, so I'm pretty excited about Pipeworks plans to can If my local shop gets Spiteful cans I'd give them a go.

for reference guys in 2012 there were only 13.2million barrels of 'craft' beer produced in the States. Illinois produced 87k bbls in 2012.... in total. From memory I think Lagunitas will start at about 250,000 additional bbls out of the new facility (for near nationwide distribution) with potential for up to 1.7MM bbls out of Chicago. That's not going to happen over night, but that's a huge deal that Tony is thinking that far ahead. It's a wonderful thing for growth to not be boxed in by capacity constrains which allows someone like Lagunitas to enter the ring with Sam Adams. It gives us another lobbying voice that will be heard.

"I included the top craft producers (Goose is off the list now since the buyout) all the way to New Glarus (only distributed in Wisconsin) to show how little craft beer Illinois currently makes... i.e. IL makes about 40% less beer than ONE brewery in WI that only sells to that state...

i know. it sucks for us. i've been following the news since they acquired the property. after visiting a couple of days ago, everything is looking promising as far as construction.
disclaimer:i dont know shit about construction but there's power, light, water pipes and walls.

It might be awhile pending on how much more they are planning to install right now. The joint is monstrous. Lagunitas is stepping it up with the bog boys now. Only a small quarter of what must the entire Block facility. The Fermentors and Bright Tanks are nothing short of amazing.[IMG]

Who would have guessed we would be looking at another delay in this opening. . . I'm guessing we will be enjoying the opening just as summer comes to an end, if we're lucky. End of the year does not seem out of the question.

With the close proximity to 35th St, how long before their is a shuttle to/from Sox games?

Also would be nice to get some taps @ the Cell. Lack of Supply should not be an issue.

Well appears they've finally got liquid moving through their system in Chicago.

""Today, in Chicago on South Washtenaw St at 18th Street, hopped wort moved from a whirlpool through a heat exchanger into a clean fermenter.""

""It won't live to be Beer but it does represent LAGChi brew #1. From here on it's a just clean-up battles. A sensor here, a pump there...""

""The desired TapRoom will be along shortly.. Brew capacity hadda come first. TapRoom and BeerSanctuary by mid May.""

""This brewery has flown! Seemed slow, but it's been a mere 25 months from the 1st notion of it to the 1st brew in it. Opening cap: 375k bbls.""

So mid May for the tap room....That means it will actually open right around Christmas hehe

A friend interviewed for a maintenance job there. He said they were apparently unaware that they "needed" to use union contractors to pipe, wire, etc. If true, that's a stunning lack of situational awareness that does not bode well for a smooth start up.

If true once they are made aware of the unions presence in Chicago, they will shell out a lot more dollas (our beer dollas) to "giterdone"
