Oracle and Hopslam in FL

Yea, Charlotte got Black Note. I know of at least 3 kegs that showed up around town.

The rest of the state gets way more Hopslam than South Florida. Most stores that get it down here get a couple cases while I have been to stores in central and west Florida and see displays of it. My guess is this has a lot to do with the distributor in South Florida. They don't bring in a lot of Bells regular stuff so they don't get as much Hopslam. Same probably for the other specialty releases as well.

 

Yup. They don't bring down nearly enough. I can't figure out for the life of me why we don't get Oarsman down here. I just...I don't even...blahhhhhh

 

Same thing happened at The Local in Coral Gables....Hopslam kicked in under 3 hours, but somehow Black Note lasted 3 days, couldn't believe it.

 

I think Hopslam is pretty easy to get in Sarasota, it just doesn't last long that's all

 

Oracle was very nice, but not worth jumping thru hoops to get. Still if i saw it I'd buy it, a nicely balanced DIPA far removed from Hopslam.

the total wine on colonial in orlando had oracle yesterday..it was 15.99 a sixer. not sure if any of the other stores got any. i grabbed 1 as i had never tried it before. it was pretty decent, but i prefer hopslam much better. oracle has a more piney smell/taste as opposed to hopslam which has the grapefruit taste to it....oracle is still pretty damn good though.

 

Atta boy. Way to play it cool, that's the direction I would have taken. Bell's Eccentric Party last year=Black Note on tap, 8 dollars a pour, final bill was $80. I only drank Black Note and 1 2008 Expedition Stout.

I'm glad you got to try some Black Note, what did you think? It's no BCBS, or even KBS, but it's damn tasty.

 

At the Michigan Summer Fest, we went around and got all the Bourbon stouts we could do compare. Livery BA Taxman, Black Note, KBS, Big Rock Flying Buffalo, and we had BA Pt5 later. Black Note had the best stout, but the barreling wasn't the best. Taxman had the best barrel and KBS was the best all around. I drank a lot of Black Note and KBS over the course of two days...

Just bought two bottles of Oracle at Knightly Spirits in Orlando. He was only selling them two at a time.

 

I saw three six packs of Oracle at the TW in North Orlando, if I wasn't on vacation and had the room to take them how with me I would have bought all three. We only got a case at one of the best shops in NC, and there was about a case sitting on the shelf. What a shame!

 

Where is Hopslam available in Tampa? I had heard that it does not make it down this way.

 

Total Wine and Whole Foods on Dale Mabry both had Hopslam last year. 1 6 pack limit if I do recall though.
