I hate to start this tread cause I know what I hear will depress me. But I feel it needs to be asked. If the current state of our economy (due the Coronavirus situation) does not improve over the next 6 months, will we see a major change with our Local Craft Breweries?

Here in Orange County we have:

(on a rating of 0 - 5, I will give my opinion on whether they last until the end of the year - 0 meaning "no chance" and 5 meaning "very good chance"

Beachwood Brewery Hunt. Beach - 3 (no more tasting room ?)
    The Bruery - 5
    Green Cheek - 1
    Bottle Logic - 1
    Modern Times Anaheim - 3
    Noble Ale - 0
    Taps - 4
    Karl Strauss - 4
    BJ’s - 4
    Lampost / Backstreet- 3
    Bruery-X - 2
RIIP - 1 ( (may 2 if they can still deliver - I mean that is how they started)
    Bootleggers- 2
    Chapman Crafted - 0
Santa Ana River Brewery - 0
    Cismontane - 0
    Four Sons - 2
    Phatom Ales - 0
    GunWhale - 0
    Salty Bear - 0
Brewing Reserve of California - 0

(Golden Roads and Ballast Point not included here)

Some of the reasons for the ability to stick around is “distribution” and deep pockets.

Please let me know where you disagree and add other Breweries I’ve missed.

Feel free to start a San Diego and Los Angeles list. Northern California Breweries are out of my league.

Curious why you give BL a 1.
Still releasing Stasis beers, doing crowlers of said Stasis beers, still canning, still distributing and they have their food available.
Not saying you are wrong, just curious why you rank it so low (never mind the fact that I’m a BL fanboy.)

It's a crappy thread based on pure (and poor) speculation.

This is just pointless speculation with random numbers next to the breweries.

As far as Beachwood, I am going out on a limb and say maybe the SB location would be the first to go between the 4 locations. I’m not sure why. I know somebody asked me if I heard any rumors of their SB location closing it’s doors? I don’t remember who asked me? But it was earlier this week. Old man memory lose. Maybe because they saw that they were closed Mon/Tue during this CV19 thing. As far as Green Cheek, I think they will be okay. Brian is their business co partner with Evan. I think he is a smart guy moving away from Nobles and opening up OG GC (former Valient) and now in CM (which we all knew as Barley Fart). Everyone here knows my feelings on MT. So I won’t mention them. They haven’t officially opened yet. Bruery X? I think he or she meant Brewery X. This is a fairly newish brewery that opened its huge facility last year. Hard to say on this one. The rent has to be ginormous. Travis, already known as a great brewer from the old RiiP days has a lot cut out in the next 3-6 months. He is just getting his feet wet as far as getting his Brewery X beers out there. RiiP? This and BWHB are my neighbor breweries I often hit up. RiiP don’t do cans as in 4/6pk. Crowlers and growlers. Great location. Excellent location for bikini watching in the summertime. I know rent is high there. I hope Ryan and Ryan survives this virus. They got the delivery thing going. They were the only ones in OC that delivered growlers when they first opened. Great guys. Great beers. Great IPA’s. Ian is one helluva brewer as well. We have another new brewery in HB that hasn’t opened its doors yet. Flashpoint Brewing. They are very close to the 4boys. Flashpoints last IG post was March 26. They were still hard at work with installation. How will these guy do? Will they open amidst all this virus? As far as 4boys and Nobles? I think these guys will collapse. I don’t know anything about Salty Bear and Santa Ana to comment. And what about Gorden Road and the DUDES? Lol. I think Gorden Road is huge these days? Maybe their buddy BUD will take care of them? The Dudes are located in Pacific Mall across from HB. There history. Rent is out of this world at Pacific City. Actually, before all this virus thing started I heard that Beachwood was looking at opening up a 5th BW at the Pacific City. Not sure about now. As far as the rest on OG’s posters list? Up in the air. I hope nobody has to go out of business because of someone’s stupidity across the Pacific Ocean.

Beachwood with food at Pacific City would be great. Like you said though, the rent is sky high and there are a lot of dining options already.

If you are referring to The Dudes in Lot 579 in Pacific City...they’ve already closed and moved out. Unfortunately, it would be a tough location for Beachwood to take over since there is virtually no kitchen space.

The former Ways & Means location is vacant, however...

Beachwood closing down the original Seal Beach spot would be heartbreaking. Love that location. Sure hope there's no legs to that speculation @dcgunman .

This is all completely wild speculation and I don’t see how this helps anybody.

I’m a bit confused why this thread stays open while the thread looking for breweries who are selling kegs got deleted. At least that thread helps breweries.

It’s a trying and unprecedented time in our history. Many are home with nothing to do but ponder the future of everything they know and love. There’s nothing wrong with speculating how this will affect breweries. It’s reality, a sad and unfortunate one, but reality nonetheless. After all, this is still a chat forum, is it not?

Playing a guessing game of which breweries are gonna bite it isn’t really productive.

The discussion, while a little morbid, is harmless. I would guess 75% (conservatively) of the banter in this forum is unproductive, but it entertains people. This is no different. Speculating on which breweries won’t survive isn’t going to have any bearing on whether or not they actually do...
