I just ordered a shipment of hard to get beers in my area from craftcity.com. I am excited to find a place that offers rare craft beer at a decent price. Has anyone else had success buying online and if so from where?

I'm still waiting for a site that offers free shipping without adding the shipping costs into the price of the beer. I'm not holding my breath

My go to online stores are craftshack.com & qualityliquorstore.com.

Some sites do offer specials with free shipping over a certain dollar amount (I've seen as low as $100), and I can't remember what site had free shipping an 20% off of your total order on Black Friday last year...but there are deals out there...I signed up on a ton of sites, and get promotional emails all of the time

just got my first shipment today from best damn beer shop...was very hesitant to order some IPAs but ended up rolling the dice and all 6 bottles had pretty recent bottle dates...ive even seen a few websites that list the bottle dating for IPAs which is very helpful.

I order from multiple sites and last one from Beverly Hills gave me 4 extras on top of 8 I brought.

I have used CraftShack a few times. Pretty good selection. Shipping is not cheap, but not terrible. My main issue is that I have to be home to sign for the package.

I've wondered about ordering online like this. Are you just at the mercy of the person filling your order when it comes to freshness? I'd hate to spend top dollar to get some 8 month old IPAs. Anyone have insight on this?

It can be a crap shoot, sometimes you can call the shop directly and talk to the beer guy, otherwise I don't order a ton of non-seasonal IPAs

I've ordered online from Craft City, Total Wine (pickup only), and France 44. All were very good.

I gotta ask. Where do you live in CA where rare craft beer is so hard to find?

Some are better at it than others, and often if you spend enough time on a site you know when the new products come in. Also others will make an effort about proper cold storage for items that might be around.

As with most places, the popular stuff is never a freshness issue cause it doesn't last in the store, they get it in, it sells and it's gone.

I live in Sacramento. I have plenty of craft beer accessible but there are still some brands that don't make it here. Like in my order I just got clown shoes billionaire. Also prairie bomb!

I've bought from WestLakeview a few times. Honestly, though, I'd rather just buy locally and save money. It was nice at first, but it can get real expensive real quick.
