I've found a site that has a lot of northern beer available online, and my question to you all is it more viable to shop online to buy such things as Pipeworks (Ninja Vs. Unicorn, Simcoe Ninja, etc..), Ska Brewing Modus Hoperandi, Revolution Anti-Hero, etc....because I doubt they will be as fresh vs. trading, or would it be better to hook up individual trades, because you assume the brews will be more fresh?

I love to trade, but it's nice too to just have a one out shopping experience.

What do you all recommend when trying to get a large quantity of out of market brews, especially when you want IPA's?

It depends on the site, really. I know The Beer Temple carries a lot of the beers you're talking about on their online store, and if that's the one you're looking at I would definitely go ahead and buy from them. They're super committed to having fresh product, so I'm sure they wouldn't send you old beer.

this is accurate. Beer temple won't do you wrong.

    Does Capone's mail beer??

I'll third Beer Temple, the owner Chris is committed to keeping his product fresh and his prices competitive.

Capone's, while one of the best craft beer stores in the city, does not ship (commercially).

I live near both Capone's and Beer Temple and both are top notch. I do not believe Capone's ships but Beer Temple does and you can't go wrong with them.

I'll definitely check more into the sites you mentioned! Thanks so far guys! I estimated shipping on the one I was originally looking at (20 West Wine) and shipping on 11 products was $63.xx. No thank you until I get very desperate.

I'll second West Lakeview Liquors and The Beer Temple, in Chicago. Two of the best beer stores around, with friendly, knowledgeable staff, and a good selection of stuff online.

If you are concerned about freshness (which you should be), Beer Temple is the place to order from for the beers you mentioned. If I traded with you I would probably just go there and buy the stuff anyway.

I use france44.com (Minneapolis) they have great selections of midwest brews including Surly and Two Brothers.
I like to trade but sometimes its nice to just order and have it shipped and not have to go trough the trading process.

    Cheers!

I have ordered through WLV Liquors a couple of times now - good prices, reasonable shipping, and a hell of a packing job.

My only gripe (especially in regards to the topic of freshness here) is that it has taken about a week for my order to go out each time. Then you have the additional 3-4 business days in transit.

I would definitely factor that in if ordering a bunch of IPA's and whatnot. One of my boxes was full of Hopslam, Half Acre Heyoka, and Pipeworks IPA's and it was tough to get through them quickly while they were still optimally fresh.
