Me and the fam will be spending a week up in Portland again (SE mostly), and driving out to Hood River at the end of this month. Any advice on what breweries or events I should check out this time?

Been to: HUB, Base Camp, Cascade, Bridgeport, Deschutes (public house), Laurelwood, The Commons, Hair of the Dog, Lucky Labrador, and of course a few Mcmenamins.

Plan on : PDX: Baerlic(?), Breakside(?) Gigantic. Hood River: pFriem, Logsdon, Full Sail, Double Mountain

Looking forward to visiting my favorite place in the world again. Cheers!

Yeah, my bad. Just re posted. Don't mind some like minded Californians opinions anyhow. Cheers!

Well then, to address the "Plan On":

Go to Bearlic. They were a surprise highlight when I was up there recently. Check the Gigantic taplist prior to visiting because they didn't have anything unique on, and there's so much up there that I felt it was wasted time. Breakside is worth it.

I'd suggest Upright, it was probably my favorite the last time I went.

I wish! Too far out of the way, especially with the little one. Definitely gonna try to grab some bottles though.

Arch Bridge Taphouse in Oregon City is your best bet for bottles. Most de Garde stuff doesn't see distribution outside the brewery. Very limited pickings for what Oregon and Seattle see at the retail level.

Going to Oregon City and not visiting the Higland Stillhouse would be a shame. Such an awesome place. Though they have great beer, it does help if you like whiskey....

Maybe reconsider. It's a great drive, can hang out in the woods for a while. The coastline is gorgeous. Tilamook is out there but it's now too busy apparently.. also Pelican. Little ones love the woods. Make sure de garde lets kids in, we went recently but they were closed for the weekend so we didn't get to go.

Apex hasn't been mentioned yet, so Apex and the place across the street.

Fort George in Astoria was a really good time. Theor second story pub was alot of fun and has a great view of the Colombia river. Large tap list and beers/swag can be purchased to go. Great service also. Very fun time.

De Garde is not kid friendly. There's a dog park right next to the brewery where you can take turns with your kiddos while the other person is inside drinking, though. I've done this before.

We brought our 1 year old and just sat out on the patio the whole time. It was nice. Grass fields for days.

Yes, come to Astoria and try Fort George. Buoy isn't too shabby and Hondo's is always fun.

Breakside had an amazing pale ale called "Just the tip". Was the first brewery I went to since it was nearest from PDX.

The grass is beyond their boundaries and there's nothing they can do as long as you're drinking on the concrete and the kid is on the other side of the rope. Doesn't work as well with my four year old who wants to do stuff. Were you the ones with the tent at the November party? That was smart.

No this was back in July. Baby was still in a stroller. We just chilled on their patio and brought beers outside and had them there. We were there on the day that blueberry bu released I believe.
