Making a trip to Orlando next month and wanted to spend a day on the local beer scene. Any suggestions?
Cask & Larder--- Great beer good food. Maybe want to hit up a World of Beer, they have one of the larges bottle selections of the local distrobution anywhere. (Hope you like it cuase there are 5 opening in Cali this year) If you have time, Oblivian Tap Room has great food and good beer. Stay clear of Orlando Brewing. There is a tiny little place called Hourglass Brewery in Longwood. Beer is ok not amazing. To be honest not much of beer scene in Orlando. Hopefully we can get some new places opening that make greqt beer soon.
Looooooove Oblivion tap room definitely a must go if you're in the area. Redlight Redlight is one of the best craft beer bars in the state definitely a must visit but seating can be hard to find at peak hours. If you end up downtown Tap and Grind is a cool spot and usually has a good taplist.
Hangover brunch/breakfast at Se7en Bites on Parramore. It's like half a mile from Total Wine, if you're planning to stock up on anything. Place is amazing.
If you are looking for brewery scene, hit Tampa as others suggested. However, I think Orlando has a better beer bar scene. Redlight, Oblivion, Wills Pub, Imperial Bar, Lil Indies, Tap & Grind, BART, and Thirsty Topher are all within a few miles of each other - some just a few blocks. Redlight, we all know about. Consistently rated a top beer bar in the Unites States. Oblivion has a well, different kind of vibe but their beer list is good, cheap, and ever changing. Largest cider bottle list in FL, if I had to guess. Best tots around! Just went to Wills on Monday, they have $5 off large format bottles all day. Arrogant bastard was $5. St Somewhere Saison 750's were $7. You get the idea. Lil Indies is attached to Wills. Thirsty Topher is a great new spot with a great selection and an even better vibe. I went one day and they had cafe con leche on tap. Next time I went they had hopslam, and I think they still have a keg of white oak. Imperial bar is a really interesting furniture store by day, and a great beer/wine bar by night. BART is a little spot with free arcade games and a nice bottle selection. T&G is downtown and only services American beers. Their tap list is always top notch and you can't beat the people watching (as they head to the clubs downtown) All of these bars are near the Vietnamese district. I highly recommend you check out Pho 88, Lac Viet, or one of many other great Vietnamese restaurants while you are here.
I think you mean primrose, and NOT parramore. There is a big difference there lol. And if you are in that area, check out Milk Bar and Sportsdown (Divey but cheapest craft beers you will ever see.)
Jesus - yes. I knew that looked off. OP, DO NOT GO TO PARRAMORE. I don't want to be the girl who got a BA mugged.
Is WALLYS inside Mills Ave Liquor still open ? Only if you're looking for a cheap liquor, start your night out, Buzz.
LOL I moved from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale in 2006 and was like "people are recommending a spot on Parramore now?" Times have changed
Wally's? Lol... Still open but I highly doubt this guy wants to go there. There are a ton of bars downtown that you can walk to, but not a ton of "beer bars". Frank and Steins is probably the best beer bar down there and worth checking out. I know it's getting slightly off the beer topic , but there are bars for just about anyone's. taste in the downtown/church st. area. If you like German beer/food check out schumans jäger house. Love it there.
Agree to disagree on Franks... But there are some cool bars downtown if you're into decent cocktails. The Woods is pretty awesome, and they do a decent amount of craft. Plus craft beer cocktails, if you're feeling adventuresome.
hell yes. that place rules, but yes, don't go to Parramore! Totally agree about Oblivion Taproom, too (great burgers, solid everything).
I like Tap and Grind better but I can't believe i forgot about Franks. Not much better than having couple beers and ordering some hot dogs.
Everyone should have a cheap drink at Wallys at least once in their short lifetime It makes you appreciate how good you've got it no matter how bad your life is, relatively speaking.
