Anyone else have a chance to try Orpheus this week? Everything I was able to try impressed me.
Nice to have a brewery in Atlanta come to the market with styles outside of Pale Ales and Wheat beers.

Isn't Three Taverns doing Belgian styles?

I saw that they were doing a thing at the Porter on Tuesday but didn't make it up there. I might be in town this weekend if they're still on tap. Up until this point, I had only heard the name, but after looking at the beer list on their website I'm pretty excited to try them.

I've had them over the past year or so on limited taps and they're killing it. I missed both the opening day and release party due to work but their beer is solid. Awesome to see the demand already is huge.

Very good stuff. I hope they stick with the farmhouse ales because they know what they are doing. BTW, they still have all 3 of their beers on tap at The Porter, and are doing launch party's around Atlanta all week long it appears.

I might have to check it out. Always excited to see new places open up around ATL and the surround, although none have really killed it.

Any good GA breweries that don't distro to SC? We have SweetWater and Terrapin here, that's about it.

Thank you, but it's not very accurate at all. According to them Cigar City distros to SC.

No love for BHB? IMO, they raise the bar for GA breweries.

I've posted it before, what couple of beers I've had, I wasn't impressed, especially for the price of a pour. One caveat I did toss out, was most were TMAC pours, but regardless.. Haven't had any of their bigger beers, just the hoppy ones like Canondragger and Zeke's Wheel, and one or two others.

I'm not in Atlanta, so I haven't seen Burnt Hickory anywhere (and they don't have a tasting room). I would like to try them. Excited about Orpheus doing tasting events this week. I'll be up in Atlanta on Sunday and hope to find somewhere that still has them on.

@WckdVbz - Jekyll's Hop Dang Diggity IPA has been a go-to whenever I'm at a Taco Mac. I've had some good stuff from Monday Night as well. Wrecking Bar is one of my favorites in GA and Twain's usually has some interesting stuff on, both brewpubs. I've liked everything 3 Taverns has put out so far.

BHB doesn't have a tasting room, but they do tours a few times a month and you can drink there during the tour. BHB beers are very expensive, more so than they should be, for the inconsistency they've had. They're easily the most expensive brewery to buy from in GA if not the entire SE.

As far as GA brews not in SC, I'd say Jekyll, Wild Heaven, Three Taverns, Blue Tarp, maybe Monday Night and Red Hare (not sure). O'Dempsey's gets out of State a little, so does Red Brick, though I don't know their reach. The Wrecking Bar and Twain's distribute a small amount in the metro area only, as does Cherry Street, but only in kegs.

Atalanta was delicious. Really, really looking forward to having that available in cans

Even the Burnt Hickory owner complains about the TMAC price gouging. You should go to the monthly tours.

As for Orpheus, not a huge fan of Saisons but looking forward to trying the sour.

That used to be my area of town, but I'm down in PTC now. Not real interested in driving up there for a tour to taste beers, that regardless of price, I was underwhelmed by. Good beers, just nothing I'd drive for at the moment.

I kind of like what Three Taverns is doing. They've been very clear about their mission to do American versions of Belgian styles (Theophan aside). I appreciate that kind of focus. Wild Heaven is similar in that regard. While I'd like to see them expand their offerings a bit, the beers they do brew are fantastic.

And I don't think anyone would disagree that Red Brick has really turned things around in the last two years or so.

Wrecking Bar has been making it to bars and growler shops in Middle GA in the past 6 months, which makes me really happy. Also did Red Brick get a new brewer or something, because I agree that they have significantly improved in the past year.

Planning on spending the day in Atlanta tomorrow, so I'm definitely seeking out Orpheus.

Garret Lockhart and Steve Anderson are the new brewers at Red Brick. Both solid guys with a lot of experience and skill.

Yeah, Red Brick has really turned the pace up. Barrel aging tons of stuff, and with some regularity. Revamping and changing logos, recipes and whatnot for the flagships. Which was needed, as they were pretty lackluster for the most part.

RB is probably my favorite ATL brewery if I had to pick one, despite not loving the flagship stuff much other than Hop Circle and their Porter. The new HopLanta is tasty, new hops and whatnot, but too much crystal malt IMO.
